Miniature creator David Hall has today released images of what the first wave of merchandise that will be hitting the shelves when The Force Awakens hits cinema screens in December 2015 could look like. Hall features characters from the trailer, including John Boyega's character Finn, who appeared as a helmet-less stormtrooper in the trailer. He uploaded the photos from his Flickr account, which also included Oscar Issac's character Poe Dameron. However the mysterious villain and Sith warrior named Kylo Ren is not featured in the impressions.

The film, directed by JJ Abrams, will be released on December 18. Hasbro’s Bladebuilders Jedi Master Lightsaber which has more than 100 combinations and makes the unique Jedi throbbing sound when activated, is poised for a sell-out. A Lego set to make Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle and the Millennium Falcon from the long awaited Star Wars: The Force Awakens which hits screens next month, are also on the must have list. According to industry analysts the NPD Group, Star Wars toys alone will be worth £90million this Christmas in a festive toy spending spree topping £1billion. The group’s global toy expert Frederique Tutt said: “Star Wars will be the runaway winner and once the movie is out, its success will carry on into next year.” Eleven-year-old Lucas Ferrandes of Wormley, Herts gave the Lightsaber ten out of ten and said: “If I had the money, I would buy this for myself - it’s so cool. “

There are so many combinations and I love the noise it makes. I feel like a Jedi.” Unveiled by the Toy Retailers Association at an event in London, the dream dozen includes a hi-tech Thunderbirds Tracey Island with lights and sounds that recreate the hit show’s famous Thunderbirds 2 launch with trees that flatten to let the rocket pass. And Pie Face - a slapstick family game - is tipped to be the dark horse of the toy world with maker Hasbro tripling its orders as the old fashioned toy has become a YouTube smash with 3.6 million hits on the official site alone. Players put some whipped cream on a mechanical hand and turn a handle on the spin of a board - as the handle is cranked up, the cream splats the unlucky contestant in the face. Hasbro revealed it is working around the clock to keep up with demand and marketing director Craig Wilkins said: “It’s a phenomena. We had a feeling that it would capture people’s imagination and it seems the simple joy of seeing a friend or relative getting pied has hit a chord across all ages.”

A new Sing-a-long Elsa doll from Disney’s blockbuster movie Frozen, a 3D design studio and Paw Patrol Paw Controller from hit kids TV show Paw Patrol are also set to give parents a headache this Christmas. Gary Grant, chairman of the Dream Toys committee said: “There’s a real buzz about the range this year and there are certain toys that are looking like they will sell out. “As well as Star Wars, the ones to watch are Pie Face which already has a cult following, Paw Patrol which could be as big as Peppa Pig and the 3D Design Studio will also cause availability problems. 2015 is going to be a vintage year.” A panel of experts from stores including Argos, Boots, Smyths Toys, The Entertainer and Toys R Us narrowed a list of 63 contenders to this year’s dream dozen. And the list sparked a price war as the high street went to battle on toys including Tracy Island as Asda slashed it from £79.99 to £59.97, Tesco offered it at £60 and it was £67.99 at Argos. The Jedi Master Lightsaber was slugging it out at Toys R Us and Amazon with both knocking it down from £49.99 to £44.99.

And Sing-a-long Elsa was lopped from £39.99 to £34.99 at Argos and Smyths.Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise consisting of a film series and other media created by George Lucas. The film series has spawned a media franchise outside the film series called the Star Wars expanded universe including books, television series, computer and video games, and comic books. These supplements to the film trilogies have resulted in significant development of the series' fictional universe. These media kept the franchise active in the interim between the film trilogies. The franchise portrays a universe which is in a galaxy that is described as far, far away. It commonly portrays Jedi as a representation of good, in conflict with the Sith, their evil counterpart. Their weapon of choice, the lightsaber, is commonly recognized in popular culture. The fictional universe also contains many themes, especially influences of philosophy and religion. The first film in the series was originally released on May 25, 1977, under the title Star Wars, by 20th Century Fox, and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, followed by two sequels, released at three-year intervals.

Sixteen years after the release of the trilogy's final film, the first in a new prequel trilogy of films was released. The three prequel films were also released at three-year intervals, with the final film of that particular series released on May 19, 2005. In October 2012, The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion and announced that it would produce three new films, with the first film Star Wars Episode VII planned for release in 2015. 20th Century Fox still retains the distribution rights to the first two Star Wars trilogies, owning permanent rights for the original film Episode IV: A New Hope, while holding the rights to Episodes I-III, V and VI until May 2020. Reactions to the original trilogy were mostly positive, with the last film being considered the weakest, while the prequel trilogy received a more mixed reaction, with most of the praise being for the final movie, according to most review aggregator websites. All six of the main films in the series were also nominated for or won Academy Awards.
