Jabba's rancor was a rancor given to the Hutt kajidii Jabba Desilijic Tiure as a birthday present from his henchmen. It was kept beneath a trapdoor in his chamber at his palace. He was fond of dropping people into the rancor's pit and watching them be eaten. "The Keepers forced Jabba's rancor into a dungeon where it could barely move. Though I didn't have a choice, I'm still sorry I had to kill it." The rancor was being transported from the Tarsunt system by Grizzid for a Bothan merchant named Grendu, when it broke out, killing Grizzid and his crew, and causing the ship to crash on Tatooine. A Jawa Sandcrawler captain named Tteel Kkak discovered the wreckage and informed Jabba's servants Bib Fortuna and Bidlo Kwerve. They presented it to Jabba as a birthday present. Fortuna was rewarded by being made Jabba's Majordomo, while Kwerve was fed to the rancor. Malakili was bought from the Circus Horrificus in order to care for the rancor. He became very emotionally attached to it.

While he took the rancor for a walk in the desert, it saved him from a small gang of Sand People. Jabba enjoyed pitting the rancor against other exotic monsters for his amusement. It always won, but was seriously wounded by three Caridan combat arachnids. When Malakili discovered that Jabba planned to pit the rancor against a krayt dragon, which would surely kill it, he made plans to betray Jabba to Lady Valarian and escape Tatooine with the rancor. Jabba frequently used his rancor as an amusing form of execution. Oola, a Twi'lek dancer, was dropped in for resisting Jabba. At some point, Jabba's Tusken battle talisman somehow ended up falling into its pit, where the rancor ate it, too. Later, Jabba used it against Luke Skywalker, accidentally dropping a Gamorrean guard named Jubnuk in as well. The rancor ate Jubnuk, but Skywalker proved to be more of a challenge: the young Jedi Knight, when it first attempted to eat him, placed a large femur between its jaws, forcing the rancor to let him go before snapping it in two with effort.

It tried to devour him again, but Luke smashed its hand in self-defense with a rock. Luke, out of options due to the rancor's handlers preventing him from escaping, lured it under a heavy portcullis, then smashed the control panel with a skull, causing the gate to pierce and crush the beast's skull, killing it. Ironically, the skull Luke threw had belonged to its first victim, Kwerve. As it was dying, the rancor moaned weakly, with Malakili rushing to the rancor's aid and then breaking down in tears when he discovered it was too late. The following section contains information from a Star Wars Legends source that was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process, and its licensing status was never confirmed by Lucasfilm Ltd. Jubnuk was later cut out of the rancor's stomach, still alive due to both his armor and the Tusken battle talisman he found inside the stomach, which he had been tasked to find earlier. Later, Luke stated that he had another reason for killing it, other than defending himself.

The rancor was so abused and mistreated that rehabilitating it would have been impossible, and Luke believed that it would be best to put the poor creature out of its misery. Even two decades after the fact, Luke expressed that it was a shame that he had to kill the rancor. He felt that as a species, they were such fine creatures. "I like the idea that everyone loves someone. And even the worst, most horrible monster you can imagine was loved by his keeper. And the rancor probably loved his keeper." An image often mistaken to be the rancor battling a krayt dragon is in reality, a joke from the crew of ILM. They placed a model of one of the dragons from the film Dragonslayer in the arms of the rancor model and took a picture. The picture was included in the book Star Wars: Chronicles. A creature based on the appearance of this dragon appears in one of Jabba's creature pens in Inside the Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy. The rancor was originally supposed to be a man in a suit, but the results weren't satisfyingly realistic, so it was filmed in the form of a puppet.

The roars from the rancor were remixed from an audio recording of an aggressive Dachshund. The rancor is a mini boss in Lord Starkiller's Mission To Tatooine. The rancor also acted as a boss in the Return of the Jedi chapter of Star Wars Trilogy: Apprentice of the Force. Although its fate was overall the same, the rancor can also "summon" more Gamorrean guards by stomping and causing more to fall down everywhere, alongside rocks. After the player backs it up to the gate, the player then delivers the coup de grace by Force-pushing a rock at the control panel. ↑ 1.0 1.1 Star Wars: Head-to-Head Tag Teams ↑ Jabba's Palace Pop-up Book ↑ Young Jedi Knights: Shadow AcademyRancors were large carnivorous animals originating from the planet of Dathomir. They were usually born brown, but in special circumstances, such as the mutant rancor and the Bull rancor, their color may have differed. They have been used for many things, ranging from mounts for the Witches of Dathomir to pets for crime lords such as Jabba the Hutt to being a source of food.

A Rancor appears in the level Jabba's Palace as a boss. Rancor is playable with the Extra Toggle feature on, but is only playable in the Minikit Bonus for Episode I, since he is too big to walk around in a regular level. A Lego minifigure of a rancor is included with the 75005 Rancor Pit. This set was released in late December 2012. Lego® Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Lego® Star Wars: The Complete SagaEnter one of the following codes at the Mos Eisley cantina to unlock the corresponding character for purchase in Free Play mode: Enter one of the following codes at the Mos Eisley cantina to unlock the corresponding extra in Free Play mode: Enter the "CL4U5H" and "TYH319" codes at the Mos Eisley cantina. Select the "Character Customizer" option, then choose a human head, the Santa hat, white beard, and red clothes. After choosing a red or green lightsaber, enter the "Extras" menu and activate "Disguise 3" for the glasses. Start the game, then go to the two test tubes in the corner.

Customize the first or second tube, then use these specific parts in order: black hood, Luke's head without the hair, black Jedi body, black arms, black or white hands, black legs, black belt, black cape, and red or blue blade lightsaber. In Episode IV: Chapter 5 - Death Star Escape in Free Play mode, use 3CPO to unlock the first door. Then, use someone who has force powers to put together the fridge in the room. The fridge will open and a Super Red Power Block will pop out, allowing you to buy Invincibility in the cantina for 900,000 Studs. Note: This trick only works in Multiplayer mode and only stays effective for that level. When you leave a part of any level, your party will be with you no matter where they were before you left that part of the level. For example, if your friend or ally jumps off a cliff and you leave that part of the level as he dies, he will appear next to you with no hearts. He or she cannot be killed by anything except falling and/or stepping in the quicksand or deep mud from Degobah.

This effect will end if you die from falling or switch characters. This can be repeated as many times as desired. Have a saved game file (any or all characters unlocked) from the original Lego Star Wars on your memory card. Load the game, go to the shop, and buy the "Use Old Save" in the Extras section for 250,000 Studs. Then, pause the game, go to the "Extras" menu, and turn on "Use Old Save". Then, replay any level in Free Play mode. All the characters from Lego Star Wars (and the unlocked ones from Lego Star Wars 2) will be available to use. This is also very helpful for collecting all the Lego canisters. Alternately, successfully complete the indicated chapter by collecting 10 Minikits within the time limit allowed in Challenge mode to unlock the corresponding character(s) from the original Lego Star Wars: Purchase all the bounty hunters (Boba Fett, Bossk, Dengar, Greedo, IG-88, and 4-LOM) to unlock the Bounty Hunter mini-game. Collect the indicated number of Gold Bricks after completing all chapters of the listed episode to unlock the corresponding bonus:

Get 60 Gold Bricks, then build the doorway outside. In Episode V: Chapter 5, use the Force on the X-Wing. Then, start walking around the X-Wing. You will get a Red Brick, allowing you to purchase the the Minikit Detector for 500,000 Studs. Collect all Minikits to unlock Boba Fett's Slave 1 ship in the vehicle missions. While in a double score area with another human player, kill them and collect their Studs. Repeat this as much as desired to get an unlimited number of Studs. The amount of Studs lost will remain the same, while the amount of Studs gained from picking up your partner's will double. Collect a good amount of Studs, then go to a special area where the Studs you collect are x2 (for example, Episode IV: Chapter 3 in the cinema). When you get there, turn off all of your "Extras" then drop in you second player (if not already on) and attack the player with all of the Studs. On the fourth hit, the player will die and release Studs. At this point pause the game and turn on any Stud multipliers you have in the "Extras" menu.

Resume the game, then collect the Studs dropped by the killed player. They will compound with the x2 of the area. For example, Studs x2 (from the area) x2 (from "Extras" menu) x4 (from "Extras" menu) for a total of x16. Turn off the "Extras" and repeat this trick as many times as desired. In Episode IV: Chapter 1 - A New Hope, destroy all of the little panels that a Force user can open. You can also go through the Bounty Hunter or Stormtrooper doors and use the Force on all of the little panels on the wall. Another way is to go through the door that can only be opened with a Sith (for example, as Darth Vader). Then, use the 2x Score Multiplier to your advantage. Note: Auto save must not be enabled for this trick to work. Find all Studs possible at Mos Eisley. Then, save the game, press Start, select "Quit Game", then "Yes". Note: You must go to the start menu and quit the game. Turn off the system then turn it back on. Load the game and you will keep the Studs you had and can go to the places that you got your Studs the first time and get them again.

Repeat this as many time as desired. Play as a Bounty Hunter (Boba Fett, 4-LOM, Greedo, etc.) at the Mos Eisley cantina. Character bonuses are recommended. Immediately when the mission loads, pause the game and return to the cantina. Once there, go to the outskirts of the cantina and destroy every trash can, ship piece, and platinum object you see with your bounty hunter's blaster and/or thermal detonators. Collect all Studs possible. This is a quick and easy way to get at least 20,000 to 30,000 Studs each time. Go to a chapter that you have already completed and play it again in Free Play mode. The Secret Plans (Episode IV: Chapter 1) with Darth Maul as your main character is recommended, because he can open doors that Ben Kenobi cannot. This allows you to access areas full of wealth, minikits, etc. If you scour this stage from top to bottom you can get over 130,000 Studs. Repeat this as much desired. Note: Destroying containers of any sort and opening drawers using the Force will dramatically add to your Stud count.

When you go outside, get a bounty hunter and blow up everything. You will get 30,000 Studs each time. Play Episode IV: Chapter 3 in Free Play mode. Make sure you have a Sith character and break everything. R2D2 (Mission 1): Enter the Bounty Hunter area. Keep going forward, then stop when you get to a wall. Enter both holes at the side of the wall. Legos will fly out. Build it into a doorway. Obi-Wan (Mission 2): Take 4-lom to the lift where the R2D2 control panel is located. Open it and go up the lift. Pull the levers after walking on the foot marks and enter the next room. Use the control panel again and go through to the last room. Obi-Wan is on the right. Smash through the boxes and he will be standing in the small doorway. Admiral Ackbar: Go to the panel to the left and open the door with IG-88. Then, use your thermal detonators to blow up the wall of junk. Next, build the thing next to the chamber. While playing with a character that uses a lightsaber, press X to attack, but do not immediately press it again.

Wait until the slash/attack stops, then quickly press X as soon as it stops. If done correctly, the next slash/attack will feature a "sparkle" effect on the lightsaber blade. Do the same thing for a special finishing attack. Additionally, immediately after the first or second slash/attack, press Jump for a special jump that puts you behind your target. Press X while in the air for a small area of effect attack. In Episode IV: A New Hope - Death Star Escape, after you chase a Stormtrooper down the hallway, you will be bombarded with a large number of Stormtroopers. Use a bounty hunter to throw a Thermal Detonator. When it hits the ground, set it off. It should destroy a good majority of the Stormtroopers. When you reach the part where you have to pull the levers to place the bombs next to Darth Vader, after you place the bombs use a Bounty Hunter to throw a Thermal Detonator. When it reaches the bombs, set off the Detonator. It should set off the bombs with one shot. If you are vastly outnumbered with Stormtroopers shooting from left, right and center and you have R2-D2 in your party, use the following trick.

First, make R2 your active character. Enemies will never shoot at a droid. Then, push the Stormtroopers closer to your friends and then zap them with R2's electric prod type weapon. They will promptly stop shooting and rub their sore spot. Quickly switch to a member which has a piece that can do damage (for example, Han Solo or Luke Skywalker). Shoot the Stormtrooper while he is nursing his laser burn. After he is killed, make R2 your active character and repeat the process until you have defeated them. Go to the Jabba's Palace level. Reach the part where you get the power brick and become a Dark Jedi. Then, use the Force on the floor. Get on a spider and go down the hole. It may take a few attempts, but eventually you should become the spider. Change to any character and jump. You should have made a clone of the character you jumped with. While playing as the Gamorrenean guard, hold B to see him use his axe as a guitar. While outside the cantina, switch to a Jedi. Go to a door, then double jump through the door.
