Used & new (7) from $26.76 + $4.99 shipping Star Wars E3 DF09 CRAB DROID On the sinkhole planet of Utapau, the Separatist forces send in crab droids that can move easily over the rough, rocky terrian. The launcher under their center section launches powerful missiles. Part of the Separatist army, crab droids appeared briefly in Revenge of the Sith, traversing the sinkhole planet of Utapau, hideout of General Grievous. This copper-colored replica--part of Hasbro’s line of Sith toys--features six crab legs that snap into place on the torso. Press a button and the legs move, though usually not enough to carry the droid; the toy seems to struggle under its own weight. Another button at the rear activates a missile launcher attached to the droid’s underbelly. Unfortunately, though, the launcher keeps falling out. Ultimately the toy is cool-looking but not all that functional, and probably for die-hards only. 7.5 x 3 x 8.2 inches 5 months and up #482,476 in Toys & Games (See Top 100 in Toys & Games)

Goring, representing Traveller’s Tales (of TT Games), proudly introduced the next entry into the ever expanding Lego universe. As charismatic as they come, Goring led the crowd into a short demo of The Force Awakens, helping narrate and explain things as they came. The demo itself took place part way through The Force Awakens’ plot, so if you somehow still haven’t seen the film, beware of spoilers ahead.

The audience were shown a scene in which Rey and Finn commandeer the Millennium Falcon, before realising that they’ve been boarded by the legendary duo; Han Solo and Chewbacca. Much like recent titles released before it, The Force Awakens is full voice acted, with Goring noting that new unique scripts and dialogue had been written just for the game. Goring confirmed that the entire cast of the film had been brought in to record for the game, including Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac. Goring himself commented on how enthusiastic the actors seemed to be about their inclusion, with Anthony Daniels (voice of C-3P0) specifically requesting to make changes to the script, just to better fit his character. The crowd was even treated to a story about Carrie Fisher and her French bulldog Gary who, had his own adventure in the recording studio. Despite some issues with the sound being somewhat out of sync with the video, the voice acting seemed to gel well with the game;

which is unsurprising, considering how much thought seems to have been put into the narrative aspects of the game. Goring said that he and his team were determined to do The Force Awakens, and the entire Star Wars franchise, justice, particularly considering he is a self-confessed Star Wars mega-fan. Han Solo was suitably cheesy, Chewbacca had some nice little unique movements, and Goring even showed off a wonderfully animated Crab droid that appears for but a few seconds in the game. We were treated to an introduction to some third-person shooting sections, which appear to be a new feature to the Lego games series. Goring made it clear that one of Traveller’s Tales primary concerns was to make the game feel like Star Wars; so including some run and gun sections as well as some space battle sections, whilst still maintaining Lego’s own adventure-style game personality. He also noted how the player’s retinal would automatically lock onto an enemy and that the game would give you warnings as to when you’d be shot at, in order for The Force Awakens to remain accessible to younger players.

Another new feature was shown off in the demo; Multi-building is built upon the idea of reusing the same Lego blocks multiple times, in order to make different things. During the demo, we were shown how a group of blocks could be used to make a lift for BB-8, and then be broken into pieces and be used to make a switch to turn on a power generator. As usual, you’ll be able to play a number of different characters, each with their own unique abilities and weapons. So Han Solo could use his blaster to take out enemies, Rey could use her staff as a pole to swing off, and BB-8 could hack into various terminals and open doors. Each character has their own unique lines of dialogue as well, depending on the situation they find themselves in; so if they make a mistake they’ll berate themselves, but if they succeed at something they’ll cheer. Goring revealed that there’d be plenty of collectables; such as 200 golden blocks, figurines of various Star Wars ships and other characters.

There are also optional side-missions afforded in each ‘hub’ area of the game, which will enable you to complete quests and collect those unique items. Goring seemed hesitant to reveal too much about the future of the Lego Star Wars franchise, particularly about what they had planned next, but he assured the audience that The Force Awakens would suitable sate their thirst for more Star Wars story. The game itself looks very promising; with the campaign offering around eight hours of play-time, with the optional extras and multiple playthroughs looking to provide even more. Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released on 28 June 28 for Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, PlayStation Vita and Windows.PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 players will have access to exclusive downloadable content, the Droid Character Pack and the Phantom Limb Level Pack.
