Advertisers and marketing partners like McDonalds, Chrysler and even Cover Girl have been tripping over themselves to release their latest “gotcha” ads to coincide with the films release.

But perhaps the happiest partner is Denmark’s Lego Group, maker of Lego bricks, those tiny building blocks of creative worlds… including Star Wars. It was the license deal with Lucasfilm for the usage rights of the various Star Wars assets that helped save Lego from bankruptcy. The first Lego Star Wars products came out in 1999 (after an internal debate that a product with “wars” in the title was not appropriate for children and set a bad moral example). But now, the Star Wars series has become one of Lego’s top sellers. As Lego explains it on their website, “From a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… comes LEGO® Star Wars™. It brings to life all of your child’s favorite ships and characters from the incredible Star Wars saga as well as new ones they may never have met before.”And to help promote this alliance, Lego employs a number of what it calls Lego Certified Professionals who use the tiny bricks like a stone sculptor uses hammer and chisel to create large (and LARGE) recreations of items like X-Wing Fighters and other Star Wars equipment.

In 2013 they showed off a 1:1 scale model of the X-Wing fighter using an astounding 5,335,200 bricks. The ship was shown in Times Square, New York. Now there’s a new display in Times Square… although you’ll have to go to Times Square, Hong Kong this time. But if you do, you’ll get to see collection of exclusive models of the blockbusters series’ characters and vehicles, including the Rebel Snowspeeder, Imperial AT-AT and Poe’s X-Wing Fighter. But the true pièce de résistance is the world’s largest Millennium Falcon model at 1:6 scale. If you can’t make it to Hong Kong, you can try your hand at your own model. All you need is a few million Lego bricks, some talent and lots of time.More from GeekSidedWhat exactly is “purple rain?”Make any Simpsons scene into a MemeDaniel Craig May Be Calling It Quits as James BondKevin Smith of Clerks fame had a cameo in Star Wars: the Force AwakensGalactica: The VR Roller-Coaster You Actually Ride Inscrivez-vous à la newsletter de votre magasin et recevez les actualités et les bons plans !

Through the visuals alone, moviegoers were able to get a sense of the disparity between the two warring factions, seeing the ragtag Alliance severely outmatched by the Galactic Empire. The Star Destroyer was a massive vehicle, nearly taking up the entire screen as it passed by the camera, symbolizing the great reach and power of the villains. From that moment on, audiences were hooked, and Star Wars has been a force in pop culture for nearly 40 years. Simply put, the Star Destroyer is a crucial element of the property, as it’s been with fans from the very beginning. As is the case with many of the iconic Star Wars spaceships, various merchandise manufacturers have produced toy and model versions of it, including LEGO. The company’s official Star Destroyer set is quite complex, containing 1,359 pieces. That wasn’t large enough for imgur user Doomhandle, and he took it upon himself to craft a gigantic custom LEGO Star Destroyer so large, it contains three interior levels and a landing bay for other vehicles.

Doomhandle posted an image gallery on his profile, showcasing all of the various features and basic setup. Dubbed the Tyrant, this Star Destroyer is more than 56 inches long and weighs about 70 pounds. It is about 20 inches longer (and considerably heavier) when compared to the classic LEGO version. There were no non-LEGO parts used in the construction of the Tyrant, save for two strings of LED lights that will be added on later once they are finished. One of the pictures showed the two side-by-side, offering viewers a great look at the tremendous scale and scope of the Star Destroyer. Check it out below: It’s clear that a lot of thought and effort went into creating the Tyrant. The inside of the ship is most impressive, including everything from a command bridge to troop barracks. There are also two Sith meditation chambers (where a Dark Side apprentice receives orders from the Emperor), a cafeteria, a medical bay, and conference rooms where Imperial officers can discuss strategy (among others).

Arguably the most amazing aspect of this is the hangar, which can fit numerous other LEGO sets of TIE Interceptors (which are 320 pieces), an Imperial shuttle, and even a captured Rebel fighter. All in all, it’s extremely creative and something fun for Star Wars fans to check out. Since 1977, Star Wars has inspired fans to make astonishing things and the LEGO Tyrant is no exception. It speaks to the impact the series as a whole has had on popular culture, giving people an outlet to pursue their passions and share them with the world. With Doomhandle teasing the possibility of more Tyrant pictures or videos soon, there’s a chance this model can get even better as he continues to work on it, so that’s definitely something to keep an eye out for. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters on December 16, 2016, followed by Star Wars: Episode VIII on December 15, 2017, the Han Solo Star WarsAnthology film on May 25, 2018, Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019, followed by the third Star Wars Anthology film in 2020.
