Lego exhibition on Wroclaw Stadium [PHOTOS] A gigantic mock-up of Titanic, a huge collection of spaceships from ‘Star Wars’, plastic brick decorations from ‘Avatar’, ‘Indiana Jones’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’, classic trains riding on railway tracks and even robots made of bricks. Not only children are enchanted with the Lego exhibition on the Wroclaw Stadium. They take photographs of themselves beside it, look under boards and wonder how such a giant could sink in two hours. The 11 metres long and 3 metres high Titanic was built of 0.5 million bricks. The ship is presented in a scale of 1:25. Imagination is also stirred by multimedia materials prepared on two tablets that present the story of the colossal ship. We can also realise how huge Titanic was in comparison to a bus, car, plane, or even the Eiffel Tower or the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. Like in a film The exhibition presents characters, places and events known from fairy tables or films, as well as historical scenes and the most famous architectural gems – both historic and modern buildings, such as the Sydney Opera House and the White House.Children’s most favourite attractions are railway mock-ups with riding LEGO brick trains and a huge amusement park where carousels, swings and mainly trains can be set in motion by means of buttons placed in front of glass cases.
It is also worth looking at construction vehicles – huge excavators whose buckets can be lifted and dropped using buttons, construction cranes lifting cargo, a transmission belt transporting balls, and a robot functioning as a medicine assistant. Other interesting items are original mock-ups, which present, among others, the naval battle of Oliwa and a scene with flying islands from ‘Avatar’. We can also see ‘Atak Hord’ [An Attack of Hoards] – a mock-up containing around 3,500 small figures, the complex of the ancient Forum Romanum and mosaics of Lego bricks presenting well-known characters, such as Jim Morrison, Bob Marley, Barack Obama and Lech Wałęsa.Two mock-up presenting the times of communist Poland, or – more precisely – the winter of 1981, when martial law was introduced, attract mainly the attention of oldest visitors. ‘Look, this is a queue to a butcher’s shop. When I and grandpa were young, there was nothing to buy in shops, and when something was eventually delivered, you had to stand in kilometre-long queues to buy it,’ explained a grandmother to her grandson.
‘Grandma, come and see Hobbit’s house, it has round windows, and the king of Goblins is there,’ replied the grandson, being interested in the mock-up of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ more strongly than in his grandparents’ recollections.Lego Technic brick structures, including programmed robots and exhibits responding to movement, are also very popular with visitors. A real hit of the exhibition is the imposing collection of Star Wars consisting of over 50 exhibits. The pearl of the exhibition is the two-metre Star Destroyer built of several thousand Lego bricks. Apart from that, we can watch many unique structures, such as Yoda Master, Millennium Hawk, Death Star, Darth Maul, R2-D2. Play with plastic bricks On the Wroclaw exhibition, there is a Fun Park where children of every age can play with Lego bricks. It contains a Duplo playing zone, Lego brick playing tables, and a zone for the creation of structures from huge bricks. Children who will build vehicles by themselves can test them on specially prepared downhill routes and check their strength on a vibration platform.
