Once again I need help with our trip to Brussels in late July. We would very much like to bring a gift back for our little boy. Are there any toy stores in the center or the Schuman area (or somewhere easily reached by metro)? Are there any typical Belgian toys we should look for? Our baby is 10 months old at the moment but we would hapilly buy toys for him to play with later on, if we could find sth special - along, of course, with an age appropriate gift. Schuman is an office area, so no toy shops. The "best" (or at least most expensive!) toy shop in Brussels is probably Serneels, outside the Steigenberger Hotel, on the main part of Avenue Louise just beyond Place Stéphanie (coming from Louise metro station): http://www.serneels.be/en/index.html In the city centre, there is The Grasshopper at Rue du Marché aux Herbes 39-43, near the Grand' Place: www.thegrasshoppertoys.be/?post_type=product

Hmm, typically belgian, Monopoly with the belgian streets? Lot's of 'made in China' toys here. I try to think of what my brother played with when he was little... Lego, Duplo and Playmobil, matchbox cars, trains, nothing really Belgian and as you live in Greece, I guess Lego isn't something special either (South-American boys are very happy with Lego). Perhaps you could find something in the boutique of the toy museum in Brussels - if not typically belgian, it would hace some belgian significance Not too far from the Metro station 'Madoo' One destination mentioned in this post I didn't take the Belgium-related issue seriously (I doubt that this could possibly mean anything to a small child) but it occurs to me that comic-strip related toys would qualify, such as Tintin, Smurfs (Schtroumpfs) or Marsupilami (maxitoys.be/jouets/…peluche-marsupilami.html). For Maxitoys, the most centrally located shop is at Chaussée d'Ixelles 36, in the Galerie Toison d'Or, Brussels 1050 (Porte de Namur).

icscafe.be/english/overview/ - the Comic Strip Museum, MOOF (http://moofmuseum.be/moof-store/), or there are several shops around the Grand' Place that you can hardly miss. Thank you both for helping out, I really appreciate all the tips and ideas. I know of course that the origin of toys is not at all important to kids - for now our baby is happy with whatever makes noise and whatever he can lift and let fall :))) - and if it makes noise falling, even better. We were just hoping to buy him sth we wouldn't find in Greece - not that he would know the difference, I know... I was going to suggest Tintin too! My 9 year old has loves Tintin since she was 3 and we have lots of Tintin toys (admittedly all bought here in the UK) but we are going to Brussels in August because of her love for Tintin. So I am sure you will be able to get a lovely cuddly snowy dog for your boy. -:- Message from TripAdvisor staff -:-This topic has been closed to new posts due to inactivity.
