Lego fans in the city have become loyalists of Kashyap Shah’s funstation.in, which provides an affordable and reliable Lego rental service What’s the first thing that comes to mind when one says Lego—expensive, right? Being a cult classic toy, Lego sets don’t come cheap. Even so, kids and in turn, their parents are lured by the magic of Lego. Enter funstation.in, a service started by Mumbai-based Kashyap Shah to provide Lego sets on rental basis. Needless to say, Shah is a Lego enthusiast. But the aha moment came to him when he realised that in spite of Lego being a world-class toy, kids will play with it for not more than a week or two, which is why a rental service makes perfect sense. Funstation.in has more than 150 sets (128 being unique ones) with an MRP range of Rs. 1,100 to Rs. 37,500. These are rented out on a monthly basis for Rs. 300 to Rs. 3,700, with free shipping. For ease of use, the website segregates the sets into four broad categories based on MRP and level of complexity.

What do Lego loyalists say? Shah is thrilled with the customer response. A while back, Vashi resident and mother of seven-year-old Ayush, Mrs. Shah had placed an order for a Star Wars Lego set on an e-commerce website. Shortly thereafter, she came across Kashyap’s stall at a fair in Bandra-Kurla Complex. On understanding what his concept was all about and realising that she could save Rs. 1,500 on the same set, Mrs. Shah made the switch to funstation.in. She says, “It’s not just the savings but the Lego toys that Kashyap delivers are sanitised and sealed neatly in a Ziploc bag. I know that I can go back to him for renting another set when my son gets bored with this one.” Colaba resident and father of ten-year-old Husaina, Mr. Poonawala shares the same feeling about Shah and his venture. He says, “Funstation.in is a well-oiled set-up, which not only has a wide selection of toys but also impeccable service. I’m quite happy with Kashyap as he practises due diligence.”

Poonawala is also glad about the time and space saved due to renting Lego sets. Shah seems to know his business well and has explained all terms and conditions thoroughly on the website. For example, there is no charge if a user ends up losing up to three Lego pieces; Shah plans to scale up his venture and take it pan-India. For now, he’s prepared for his stall at KidTown Fair 2015, which will be held this weekend at World Trade Center, Cuffe Parade. So, if you want to grab some of your favourite Lego sets, get in line as Shah concludes, “The Lego MINDSTORMS EV3, with an MRP of Rs. 37,500, is booked until March 2016!” Introducing the Honest Feedback Discount Although Rent-A-Theme Entertainment prides itself on being an economical choice for group events, we realize that, at times, even the most reasonably priced services can create a financial hardship. That is why we are introducing the Honest Feedback Discount. Overall, I think it was a great experience. Everything from start to finish was easy!

It is so nice to have the whole set of themes available all day for use. The kids LOVED building with the large legos.Set-up was quick, highly engaging products that did not necessitate adult guidance!” “This a great company to do business with!!”From the first time I called to picking up the kit, we had no issues. They were always friendly and easy to work with!”Pley Lego set for monthly rental Pleying Inc. wants to make playing with toys cheap for parents and easy on the earth. Like Netflix Inc., Zipcar Inc. and dozens of new startups quenching people’s desire to access goods rather than own them, Pleying, doing business as Pley, allows people to rent Legos for a monthly fee. The 23-person startup, which has raised $6.75 million in venture funding to expand operations, weighs and sanitizes Lego sets at its San Jose warehouse, turning sets around to mail to the next customer in an average of 2.5 minutes. For a monthly fee ranging from $15 to $39, customers play with sets and return them for new ones when they are ready.

“It’s to FDA standards,” said Pleying Chief Executive Ranan Lachman of the sanitation process. “If you allow your kid to go to restaurant and lick a fork, it’s the same thing–it’s that clean.” Uber CEO Caught on Video Berating Company Driver Why Is Saudi King Salman Touring Asia? You can easily spend hundreds, even thousands of dollar of LEGO sets for your kids. LEGO sets are fun; they can occupy your kids for hours. Unfortunately, the fun doesn’t last long. And did you know what kids do when they are done playing with the LEGO set you’ve just bought for them? That’s right – your kids will ask you for a new set. Rinsing and repeating will get your household budget drained by LEGO. Telling your kids not to buy LEGO and just buy those cheapish toys that don’t add value to your kids’ learning process?

Well, that could work, but if you want a win-win arrangement, there is one, innovative way. Pley is basically a subscription-based LEGO rental business. The company allows you to rent a LEGO set and have it shipped to your door. What you only need to do is to sign up, choose your set and get it delivered to your doorstep. When you are done, just return the set. Now your kids can enjoy playing LEGO and when they are bored with the set, you can just return the set and get a new one. The concept is nothing new, really. However, involving LEGO sets as your selling points and executing fulfilment smoothly will make a difference. So far, Pley is promising. A win-win arrangement is the best thing a business can offer, don’t you think?
