Lego debuts Jurassic World sets NEW YORK — Lego has been teasing a few early looks at its upcoming movie "Jurassic World," but just debuted the entire collection on Saturday at Toy Fair 2015. It was well worth the wait. Lego is partnering with Universal Pictures to bring the colorful bricks to the Jurassic World franchise, just a few months before the upcoming film (starring Chris Pratt) opens in theaters in June. It's been 14 years since Jurassic Park III hit the silver screen, and Jurassic World has been in the works for almost as long. See also: Furbacca is the most epic 'Star Wars' Furby in the galaxy We were hoping for the inclusion of the classic "Jurassic Park" entrance sign. The collection is modeled more on the latest installment of the film series than previous installments. But we are treated to some recognizable elements like raptors, jeeps, helicopters, flare sticks, mosquitos with amber and of course, T. Rex. Lego, which will officially launch these sets on May 1, said it worked closely with Universal Pictures to recreate the upcoming scenes.

The main set, Indominus Rex Breakout ($129, picture above) features a white T. Rex trying to break out of her pen. The set includes an ACU trooper, a handler, a helicopter, 4 minifigures, a gyroball (a plastic ball that fits a figurine within) and amber with a mosquito — a nod to how the dinosaurs were replicated in the original film. Another set, the Pteranodon Capture ($19.99), features a "Jurassic One" chopper who can chase a pteranodon with its mounted net shooter. Meanwhile, the Dilophosaurus Ambush set ($29.99) comes with a Dilophosaurus dinosaur, a young boy figurine who needs to escape by using the gyroball, an ACU trooper with a shock rod and a jeep. It also comes with Owen's motorbike, a flickshooter and a medical truck. Image: Mashable, Dustin DrankoskiLastly, the T. Rex Tracker ($69.99) showcases — guess who — T. Rex, and comes with four figurines, a flare stick and rope shooter to distract her.

It also comes with a four wheeler truck and cage. Jurassic World may not have had quite the same cultural impact that the original did in 1993, but it still managed to score the third highest box-office of all time. (It was only bumped to fourth when Star Wars: The Force Awakens rolled in at the end of last year.) But everyone knows that the true measure of a film’s success is dictated by whether or not it has been made into a LEGO set.

(Eat your heart out, Citizen Kane!) Extra kudos if a LEGO-styled video game and/or children’s parody movie have also been made. LEGO Jurassic World toy sets and video games have been available since the film’s release a year ago. But for those looking for slightly friendlier dino-massacre action, or simply an excuse to enjoy the story once more in a sillier form, your wish will soon be granted. Universal Studios has released the first trailer (see above) for LEGO Jurassic World: The Indominus Escape. The short will be released in five parts online, starting October 3rd, and will then be compiled in a special Jurassic World 2-pack, DVD release. Here is the official plot synopsis: In LEGO® Jurassic World: The Indominus Escape, two of the most beloved brands of all time come together like never before! When Simon Masrani accidentally destroys one of the park’s main attractions (he really should learn how to fly that helicopter), he calls upon his trusted employee Claire to save the day.

After some quick dino-DNA building in Dr. Wu’s lab, Claire comes up with the perfect solution that is sure to delight Masrani and kids everywhere – the Indominus rex™– the smartest, biggest and scariest hot dog-loving hybrid dinosaur ever created! Unfortunately, disaster strikes after the Indominus eats all the hot dogs and escapes from its pen in a hungry rage. It’s now up to the talented and rugged dinosaur trainer Owen Grady to save the day and battle the Indominus rex™ in an epic, action-packed finale! While this release clearly isn’t aiming for the same league as Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s The LEGO Movie, it nonetheless should provide an amusing distraction for kids, big and small. Perhaps it will even serve as a warm-up for those too small for the scarier, live-action version films. Stay tuned to Screen Rant for updates on the LEGOfication of all your favorite movie franchises. LEGO Jurassic World: The Indominus Escape – Part 1 will release online October 3, 2016, with Parts 2-5 coming in the subsequent days.
