Does anyone remember back in 2005 when the first LEGO tie-in game, LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game, was announced? I'm not sure anyone expected the LEGO movie games to take off quite as much as they did, but then LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game became one of the best selling Playstation 2 games of all time and the rest is more or less history.Since LEGO Star Wars kickstarted the franchise we've had multiple movie tie-ins from LEGO spanning Playstation, Xbox, Wii, PSP, PS Vita, Nintendo DS, Windows and OS X, and the franchise shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. One of the most popular games to come out of the series was the Marvel tie-in, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, and the upcoming [Lego Marvel's Avengers](tag:3645730) is set to be no different than it's predecessor on that account. And now there's been an update on the characters we can expect to see appearing in the upcoming game, set to swell out the ranks of the superheroes considerably. It's not like we didn't get a lot of characters in the original game, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, which featured a grand total of 150 unique characters from the Marvel universe.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers is set to overtake that considerably though with more than 250 playable characters. It'll be featuring the Avengers introduced from [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](tag:293035) like Scarlet Witch and Vision, as well as the characters from Marvel Super Heroes which included the likes of Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four alongside the Avengers themselves.New characters being introduced in LEGO Marvel's Avengers are set to include Agent Carter (Peggy Carter), who has become a big player on the small screen with [Marvel's Agent Carter](tag:1119765) featuring Hayley Atwell as the titular character. Pretty good likeness, right? We'll also be seeing supervillain Crossbones (Brock Rumlow), who made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in last year's [Captain America: The Winter Soldier](tag:254973). He's set to appear again in the upcoming [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409), portrayed by Frank Grillo. There's also the dragon lord Fin Fang Foom, an alien antagonist of Iron Man (Tony Stark) in league with Stark's arch-villain the Mandarin (who we saw a version of in Iron Man 3, portrayed by Ben Kingsley).

Fin Fang Foom in LEGO Marvel's Avengers There's also a few lesser known players in the Marvel universe: Hulk (Bruce Banner)'s son Skaar; the Kree-raised Avenger Mantis; super-villain Crimson Dynamo (another Iron Man villain); the mutant Squirrel Girl (Doreen Green); the monstrous Wendigo and Korvac (Michael Korvac), an Earth-691 computer tech who is transformed into a villainous cyborg.LEGO Marvel's Avengers is set to land on January 26th 2016 in the US with a ton of new characters and content spanning the entirely of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but which character do you want to see in the new game? A LEGO fan named Takamichi Irie clearly agrees. Using pieces from official “Ghostbusters” and “Avengers” LEGO sets, Irie has made this team-up a reality, showing what would happen if the Ghostbusters outsourced their tech to Stark Industries. The result is a set of Ghostbusters-branded Hulkbuster armor that looks like Iron Man’s battlesuit from “Avengers: Age of Ultron” crossed with the Ghostbusters’ classic Cadillac ambulance-hearse, the Ecto-1. In classic Ghostbusters tradition, the equipment doesn’t look like it’s working exactly as planned. In Irie’s vignette, the Ghostbusters firehouse is a mess, while the Ghostbusters’ sometimes-nemesis Slimer is still free and causing havoc.

For his part, Stark looks happy to take the money and run. Fans who want to build their own Ghostbusters mech can follow Irie’s lead. As The Brothers Brick notes, Irie’s creation is a combination of two existing LEGO sets: the garage section of the 75827 Firehouse Headquarters and a converted 76031 The Hulk Buster Smash. Tony Stark and Iron Man last appeared in this year’s “Captain America: Civil War,” which recently became the first 2016 film to make over $400 million at the domestic box office. A “Ghostbusters” reboot featuring an all-new, all-female cast, debuts on July 15, 2016, although eager fans can listen to the new remix of the classic “Ghostbusters” theme song right now.Lego has announced a new Marvel-branded LEGO Avengers Assemble set called Captain America vs Hydra. The set will release on 26 March - just in time for the US premiere of the Captain America: The Winter Soldier film on 4 April. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it's a 2014 American superhero sequel to 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger.

The film was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, with a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and others. The new Lego Avengers Assemble set is actually an action scene from the upcoming movie. Lego said it includes three minifigs of Captain America, Red Skull, and a Hydra Henchman, as well as the iconic motorcycle: "In the set the Evil Red Skull has seized the cosmic cube and is bringing chaos and destruction to the city as he rampages through the streets in his missile firing, rugged off-roader," explained Lego in a release."It’s up to Captain America to disarm it using his impenetrable shield, and recover the cube before it’s too late," Lego added.Speaking of both films and Lego, YouTuber Antonio Toscano has re-imagined the trailer for Captain America: The Winter Solider and Lego-fied it with some stop-motion animation. Check out the results below. He's also published unofficial Lego trailers for films like Man of Steel and Star Trek Into Darkness.
