Movies / TV Shows It was a quiet-ish week as we start to edge toward some bigger movie releases. Below are some of the releases you might have missed from this week. Star Wars: Rogue One In addition the Darth Vader, Making Star Wars reports a new villain will be introduced in Rogue One. The character isn’t named, though he’s described as an older male who wears a “majestic white cape.” Boba Fett in Rogue One? Toys aren’t always indicative of what will appear in a movie, and we saw that with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That said, there is a small possibility Boba Fett could make an appearance in Rogue One. At a recent toy fair in Nuremberg, Lego teased an upcoming line of Star Wars products, which showed off the bounty hunter’s ship. Awesome Mix Vol. 2 Star-Lord himself, Chris Pratt, posted an image of Awesome Mix Vol. 2 to his Instagram, saying how excited he is to be back on set. Filming is just getting underway for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which comes out in May of next year.

That’s not that far away!  A talking Hulk in Thor 3? When we find Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok, he’ll apparently display a personality that’s a mix between the raging giant and Bruce Banner. With that in mind, he might also display more human characteristics, like the ability to talk. Whether he’ll talk or not apparently has to do with where Marvel wants to take the character in future movies, which, according to Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo, will be on a huge multi-movie arc. 10 Cloverfield Lane secrecy Mary Elizabeth Winstead talked about the secrecy around 10 Cloverfield Lane, and how weird it is to finally see it on the verge of coming out. There is this veil of secrecy to it from the very beginning. We were making this movie in this little bubble where nobody else knew what we were doing and there’s really only three actors in the whole thing, so it kind of felt like this really intimate experience. Now that it’s about to come out, it’s sort of crazy—like, ‘Oh yeah, people are excited to see this movie.’

I forget that that was going to happen. TJ Miller in Deadpool TJ Miller, who plays Weasel in the upcoming Deadpool film, said some of his lines were too dark for the final cut. Much of the stuff is improvised, and there were times when director Tim Miller had to step in and say things were getting out of hand, even for a Deadpool movie. You can see more of his comments over at IGN. Bryan Singer confirms he’ll director 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea After teasing his involvement, Bryan Singer confirmed he will director 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Filming will start this fall, with a release date presumably sometime in 2017. Singer’s next film, X-Men: Apocalypse, is coming out later this summer. Kevin James gets Netflix original Paul Blart, aka Kevin James, is getting his own original Netflix movie. The film, known as True Memoirs of an International Assassin, will follow James as he’s mistaken for a killer-for-hire. Of course that’s what the story will be.

And of course it’ll be successful on Netflix, where his buddy, Adam Sandler, has already found a home with The Ridiculous Six. Netflix renews Orange is the New Black for three more seasons Netflix will be sending the inmates of Orange is the New Black back to their cells for at least three more seasons. Ahead of the June 17 premiere of season four of Orange is the New Black, Netflix has announced that it has renewed the award winning series for three additional seasons. In addition to […] The son of Professor X is getting his own show on FX FX’s Legion, considered a loose X-Men spinoff, has its David Haller. The show will feature Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) in the titular role of Haller, who is the estranged son of Professor X. Haller is a darker character in the X-Men universe, someone who doesn’t know if he has a severe mental illness, or is someone who simply […] Check out the first image of Chris Hemsworth in Ghostbusters While we wait for the first trailer to hit for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot (sometime later this month), new images of the cast have been revealed.

We’ve already seen the new team assembled in their familiar ghost-busting jumpsuits, but these new photos reveal their everyday attire—what their lives are like when they aren’t fighting strange […] Power Rangers reboot has its Rita Repulsa One lasting memory I have of the Power Rangers from the 90s is Rita Repulsa and her maniacal laughter, always shouting about how she wanted to conquer Earth (but never succeeding). She was completely insane, and the consummate villain: campy, deranged, and hilarious. That’s why today’s casting announcement is a big deal. Either the new Rita […] Bridge of Spies is a thrilling political drama set amid the Cold War Bridge of Spies kind of flew under the radar when it was released in October of last year, maybe perceived as more of a mature, calculated, political film that simply got lost in the shuffle. That’s a shame, too, because it features a terrifically talented cast and crew, and an intriguing story that makes you want […]

Kung Fu Panda 3 wins its first weekend at the box office The box office was not friendly to some new releases this weekend, but January is always a rough month at the box office. 1. Kung Fu Panda 3 Kung Fu Panda 3 came in at the top of the box office this weekend with $41M. This is a drop from the opening weekend of Kung […] Hulk to get “interesting arc” across Thor 3 and Infinity War Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk might not get the standalone treatment fans have been clamoring for, but it sounds like Marvel is going to make him a much bigger focus going forward. While speaking to Yahoo! Movies, Ruffalo talked about why there hasn’t been another Hulk film (Universal holds the rights), and how Marvel is getting around […] Netflix and Amazon make Sundance their playground Amazon and Netflix have built reputations as two of the industry’s premier streaming services. But the two are also gaining a foothold in Hollywood’s arthouse backyard, and it could change how we consume films that normally get limited theatrical releases (or not at all).
