Winter is, err, under construction? McFarlane Toys have announced that they are branching out their line of bizarre, yet totally awesome construction toys based on The Walking Dead to another humongous TV franchise: Game of Thrones. Once again, the idea is baffling, and yet also absolutely fantastic. Due to be unveiled properly at Comic-Con next week, the line will work just the same as the Walking Dead sets do—realistic, high detail tiles that are built over a Lego-esque construction frame. Presumably, the same frame (and scale, as the figures are still 2” in height) means you can mix and match the the two franchises together, if you really wanted to see what happens when Westeros and post-apocalyptic Georgia combine. The first wave of sets features a line of blind-bagged individual articulated minifigures for $3 each (12 characters including named protagonists like Daenerys or Tyrion, as well as “army-builder” types like Wildlings or White Walkers), “Banner” starter sets for Stark and Lannister armies (which feature a House banner, two soldiers and, I kid you not, something referred to as “customisable weeds and dirt”!)

, and larger playsets that will range in cost from $15 to $50 in price. Example sets teased include a “Mother of Dragons” playset as well as an “Attack on the Wall” set, but the one actually shown so far, and the first that will be released, is an absolutely remarkable recreation of the Throne room in the Red Keep: The humongous set doesn’t come with all of those Lannisters—just Joffrey and a lone Kingsguard, apparently—but it makes up for it by looking completely awesome. Sure, they’re referred to as construction sets but clearly the goal of these is creating remarkable, small-scale dioramas to absolute perfection. There’s no exact details on when the toys will hit shelves—but presumably as McFarlane are planning a blowout at SDCC next week, we’ll know soon enough. You’re reading Toybox, io9’s blog for all things pop culture. From merchandise to awesome fan creations, TV recaps and critical commentary on the hot topics of the day, you can find it all here!

Game Of Thrones "LEGO" Is As Awesome As It Is Expensive4/06/14 8:00pm These figures are called the "Dragon Sword Fighter Force", but that's just to get around the copyright police. These are Game of Thrones LEGO minifigs in everything but name, and yes, you can buy them. There are four three-packs available, each with a themed collection of figures. These really do look like official products, from the facial expressions to the quality of the accessories.Because they've got to be customised, though, this quality comes at a price: USD$55 for a pack of three, or USD$220 for the complete set. That's a lot, but then, the complete set also comes with a bonus George RR Martin minifig. This 540-piece set is slowly gaining support on the LEGO Ideas website, and has so far reached over 2,000 of its required 10,000 votes for LEGO to take it seriously. Clarkson may be on his way out, but the set still includes him and fellow members James May, Richard Hammond and The Stig, as well as two camera crew members, a Broken Toyota Hilux and a Power Lap board with lap times.2. We all know Monica and Rachel's apartment so well that a LEGO version is a no-brainer. There are a number of unofficial LEGO versions out there, but the one above is probably the best. Sadly, it looks like it's not going to get anywhere near its target, which is surprising, really.

If it were to get made, we'd definitely want Chandler and Joey's apartment to attach to it, as well as Central Perk with a mini Gunther.3. It might not the most suitable set for kids, but let's be honest, it's not exactly exclusively kids that play with these, right? This Breaking Bad set actually exists, but it is now extremely rare and costs nearly $800 on Amazon. The Superlab Playset comes from Citizen Brick, and it features a very detailed lab, Walter, Gus and Mike, but sadly no Jesse.4. The most frustrating entry on the list, as this idea has actually passed the required 10,000 votes on the LEGO Ideas site. The set is a recreation of Sherlock's flat, and comes complete with Sherlock, John, Mrs Hudson, Mycroft, Lestrade and Molly. Sadly, LEGO decided not to pursue with an official set despite the fans' demands, which makes you wonder whether it's worth creating a set dedicated to The Brittas Empire if Sherlock doesn't pass the test.5. We realise that a full LEGO version of the Crawley mansion will be rather massive, but look how grand it looks!

LEGO enthusiast Eric Stevens put together the unofficial Downton set, which comes complete with everyone from Maggie Smith's Violet to Jim Carter's Mr Carson. Stevens's collection hasn't been officially put forward to LEGO lately, but we can live in hope.6. Game of Thrones is probably far too vast to have LEGO versions, as you'd need so many spinoffs of locations such as Westeros or the Wall of the Night's Watch. But, Citizen Brick have created their own set, though it's officially called Dragon Sword Fighter Force, which is simply awesome in its own right. In their world, Joffrey is known as King Aayhole, Tyrion is Tyrone Goldcoin and Verys is Baldo Eunuchorn.7. While there are already a few Red Dwarf toy lines out there, there has yet to be an official LEGO version. The Red Dwarf world is crying out for such a thing, as it would simply just need a small recreation of Starbug and its four main inhabitants. For £50 you can get an unofficial set of Lister, Rimmer, Kryten and Cat from Minifigs, but we want the real thing featuring sleeping quarters and cockpit.8.

Try and forget the Bradley Cooper movie remake, and remember that The A-Team was a kick-ass classic TV series, that would really benefit from its own LEGO version. Featuring Hannibal Smith, Murdock, Face and BA Baracus and their 1982 GMC A-Team Van, the set sadly only reached 1,000 votes, but hopefully it might be resubmitted with a bigger drive in the future. Who wouldn't want to play with that van?9. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Buffy fans are a very passionate bunch, and so surely a LEGO set of Giles and his team of world-savers would be a huge hit? While there is yet to be an official version, fan and LEGO artist Ryan Rydalch has created several fantasy Buffy LEGO packs, each with different themes and characters. If just one of these got released it would be near the top of our Christmas list, especially the full Magic Box with mini-Spike.10. This is really just an excuse to make a full pub in LEGO form. There is actually a real Cheers LEGO set out there, but it's only available to see in Boston.
