An additional $20 lab fee covers the cost of specimens for camp and a science tool kit for you to bring home. June 12-16 Fiber Arts FunSkills: Sewing, weaving, knitting, crochetingExplore many ways to create items using fabric and fiber. Learn how to dye wool, spin it into yarn, weave that yarn into cloth, and how to sew by hand and with a sewing machine. Use your hands to create new works of art or an invention incorporating different fibers and fabrics into your design. Perfect knitting, crocheting or embroidery techniques to enhance your creations. Grades 1-6 will use sewing machines independently; Build robotic animals or robots that spin, push, or respond to sound; then program them with visual drag-and-drop programming software. Grades K-3 will use LEGO Education WeDo kits to design the fastest race car or a space rover that can move in and out of a crater. Grades 4-6 will design a robot that can find its way out of a cardboard box maze using LEGO MINDSTORMS kits. Projects will be adapted towards camper skill level. June 26-30 Sci-Fi FilmmakingExplore a distant planet, converse with an alien creature, captain a spacecraft-- transport yourself wherever you want to go through the magic of sci-fi special effects. Write scripts, create storyboards, design sets, and explore movie making special effect techniques. Grab the popcorn and share your work with others at a Friday Movie Premiere. June 26-30 Game DesignDesign animated stories using dancing and taking sprites. Learn game structure and the design elements found in well-designed games.
