The touching tribute came as the club had also announced the death of one of its most successful player's and former managers Howard Kendall today.The 69-year-old, who led the Merseyside club to two English league titles in the 1980s, suddenly died overnight in a Southport hospital. Flags flew at half-mast, players from both teams wore black armbands and there was a pre-match period of appreciation for Kendall. Manchester United went on to win the game 3-0. He is also charged with attempted section 18 wounding against the policeman's colleague Pc Birkett as well as burglary and aggravated unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle.Williams will appear for a further court hearing at Liverpool Crown on October 22.Three other people have also appeared in court charged with assisting an offender. Georgia Clarke, 19, Dawn Cooper, 34, and Michael Smith, 19, who are all from Wallasey, Merseyside, face a single charge of burning and attempting to dispose of the clothing of a murder suspect.No pleas were entered and all three were refused bail and all three will make their next appearance at Liverpool Crown Court on October 22. A second defendant, Philip Mark Stuart, 30, of Prenton, Wirral, is accused of burglary and aggravated vehicle-taking and death caused by an accident, after allegedly being carried in the Mitsubishi. He is scheduled to appear on the same day as Williams. The father-of-two (pictured left and right with his daughter Sophie) was trying to use a stinger device on the vehicle when he was killed.
