Finding the Missing Bricks: Rebuilding Vintage Lego Train Kits imageLego introduced its first train series in 1966 with set number 080. In the years since, the Lego Train product line expanded considerably, which made it necessary for Lego to retire old sets in order to...Read More about Finding the Missing Bricks: Rebuilding Vintage Lego Train Kits$36.09Buy It Now watching | View DetailsCondition:NewTime left:23d 0h 38mItem location:GermanyWe all know one proven way to invest in LEGO bricks is to look for big sales and great deals on LEGO sets that are still currently available at retail, then flip them several year later for a profit. Another great way to invest in LEGO bricks is to scour eBay and look for older and retired sets that are still having positive gains month after month and do the same thing. The trick is finding those older and retired sets without too much trouble. Here is our solution. Below is a list of the Top Performing "Old and Retired" LEGO sets over the past six months.

All 50 LEGO sets on the list have been produced in 2008 or earlier. When displaying the sets from the USA eBay listings, there is a 20% range added to the current market value. For all other country feeds, the high price range is twice the current value and the low price range is half of the current value. When testing, this was returning some decent results. Our goal here is to help find these top performing sets that are still consistently increasing in value and showing you current eBay listings within a close price range of it's current market value. It is our wish that you utilize this data to diversify your Brickfoilio and to help you find some hidden gems that will make you some money in the secondary LEGO market.Note: The pages are retrieving current live listings, so it make take a moment for each page to load... in Everything else LEGO Anyone else notice the difference in the grey between, oh, say the Land Speeder in set #4501 and oh...perhaps EVERY OTHER GREY LEGO? Aside from 7119's weird red colour bricks - which I have no idea where I stored, this is driving me insane as I dumped them all together in one bin. Is this a Star Wars only thing? They seem to have a bluish tinge to them. @DaveE, I bet he is referring to the one from 2004. Should we "let him in" on all the gory details? /general/?n=43553That's when the 2004 sets started hitting the shelves in the lead-up to Christmas that year!Supposedly, some fans had gotten wind of it a few months earlier when talking to builders in LEGOLAND, but had been asked not to say anything (IIRC, LEGO said something like "it's so subtle, the fans may not even notice").Of course, what followed was probably the biggest hissy fit in AFOL history-- some people even went so far as to try boycotting LEGO, vowing never to buy another new LEGO set again.
