What's New in KC Groups will find new major attractions to explore in Kansas City. More than $9 billion in construction projects are reshaping Kansas City as a group-tour destination. The following is a list of the newly opened attractions to help you stay-up-to-date with everything Kansas City. Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts The Kauffman Center opened in late 2011 to national acclaim. Designed by renowned architect Moshe Safdie, the $413 million facility is KC’s new address for ballet, symphony, opera and more. The facility’s soaring dual arches contain two spacious performance halls: the 1,800-seat Muriel Kauffman Theatre and the 1,600-seat Helzberg Hall. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Expansion The museum, ranked among the top in the nation, has completed its first expansion since opening in 1933. Designed by Steven Holl, the Bloch Building opened to international acclaim, with Time magazine calling it “the No. 1 architectural marvel of 2007.”




It adds the equivalent to a 67-story office building lying on its side. As part of the project, the Nelson’s original museum building was also ben renovated. Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway The booming Village West has welcomed its first casino. A joint venture between Kansas Speedway and Penn National Gaming, the initial phase of the new complex includes a 100,000-square-foot gaming floor with 2,000 slot machines and 52 table games. Additional phases include a hotel, convention center and an entertainment district. Just a stone’s throw from the bustling Legends Outlets, Sporting Park is an 18,500-seat arena that is changing the way people watch Major League Soccer. Home to Sporting Kansas City, the new stadium and its adjacent youth tournament complex are expected to host more than 800 events and 2.5 million visitors each year. SEA LIFE Kansas City The international headquarters for Hallmark Cards is now home to the world’s largest aquarium brand, SEA LIFE.




Merlin Entertainments, has opened a two-story aquarium in KC, housing more than 30 spectacular displays of diverse marine life for visitors to enjoy. The stunning centerpiece is a huge tropical ocean tank with a walk-through underwater tunnel. The new attraction at Crown Center offers a fun and educational indoor experience for families with children 3-10 years old. Based on the ever popular LEGO brick, the Discovery Center provides a range of interactive play areas including a 4D cinema; a company store and much more. In its first project outside of Texas, waterpark giant Schlitterbahn has built its fourth family destination on a 370-acre site in Kansas City. Once all phases are complete, the Village will be one of world’s largest tubing parks with miles of interconnected rivers and attractions. The year-round resort will feature as many as 1,800 hotel rooms including cabins and “treehaus” accommodations. On the eastern edge of the new downtown entertainment district is the state-of-the-art, 18,500-seat Sprint Center.




Offering marquee concerts and sporting events, the arena is part of downtown redevelopment efforts that have transformed the area into a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week entertainment destination. In 2012, Sprint Center was named the fourth-busiest arena in the country by Pollstar magazine. Truman Sports Complex Renovations The stadiums that are home to the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals have both received major overhauls including wider concourses, more restrooms, added concession stands and new amenities. The Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium has received $375 million in improvements including a new stadium club, Chiefs store and museum. The Royals’ Kauffman Stadium received $250 million in upgrades including a 9,500-seat, open-air pavilion; 1,500 “fountain view” seats and a new Fan Walk. The College Basketball Experience Connected to the Sprint Center arena via common lobby, the 41,500-square-foot entertainment facility contains hands-on basketball exhibits and houses the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.




Sweating is almost inevitable as CBE’s high-energy exhibits recreate the intensity of a college basketball game—from foul-line hecklers to a last-second buzzer beater. Kansas City Power & Light District Visitors can now experience a new Downtown with the opening of the eight-block Power & Light District. The $850 million district features more than 50 venues, reenergizing downtown as an entertainment, retail and dining hotspot for locals, visitors and conventioneers. One block features a  ring of restaurants and nightlife surrounding a covered outdoor courtyard. stage offers live entertainment more than 150 days per year. Währende die Beine über ein Scharniergelenk bewegt werden und über dieses mit der Hüfte verbunden sind, können Hände, Arme und Kopf in sämtliche Richtungen gedreht werden.
