Kid can’t wait for the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie to come out? He’ll definitely want to check out this super-detailed Lego set. Updated Feb 21, 2017 Yo ho, yo ho a pirate’s life for me. After watching the new teaser for the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, we can already tell the next instalment of the saga is going to be epic. But what may be even more epic is the new Lego Pirates of the Caribbean set that was just announced! The Lego set is based off of one of the ghost ships featured in the movie. The Silent Mary is made with over 2,200 pieces and this super-detailed model has all the requirements for a functioning, spooky Lego ship: a hinged bow section, an opening skeleton hull, a movable rudder, collapsible main mast and two further masts, tattered sails, a detailed quarterdeck, a stowaway rowboat with two oars…you get the picture, it’s basically like a real pirate ship in your living room.

And what’s a ship without its crew (and enemies)? This set includes eight minifigures, including everyone’s favourite pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow, along with Henry, Carina, Lieutenant Lesaro, Captain Salazar, Officer Magda, Officer Santos and the Silent Mary Masthead. The ship comes fully equipped with everything you need for battle. On board you’ll find two grey swords, three black swords, a pistol and the Silent Mary Masthead’s shield and sword elements. When you’re ready to fight, all your kid has to do is lift the hinged bow and open the skeleton hull to switch from sailing mode to attack mode. The Silent Mary Lego set also includes other miscellaneous accessories such as a compass, sextant, monocular, two brooms, a ship-in-a-bottle and features Lego-versions of props from the film like Captain Salazar’s hairpiece and the Galileo Diary. Though Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales doesn’t come out till May 26, your kid will be able to amp herself up with this cool ghost ship on April 1.

The new Lego Life app is a game-changer Has Lego become too violent? 9 ways Lego has changed since we were kidsA documentary about the Kon-Tiki expedition of the Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl. Stars: Thor Heyerdahl, Herman Watzinger, Erik Hesselberg, Knut HauglandAttraction & Entertainment Solutions (A&ES) has completed a nationally recognized themed scenic environment, LEGOLAND® DUPLO Valley (Orlando, FL) for Merlin Entertainments. Visionary and innovator John Oldham, president of A&ES, the sole theming contractor for the LEGOLAND® Florida Hotel expansion, is proud and passionate about the final launch of the new high-profile visitor environment that recently opened. The scope of services included: “We are proud A&ES’ experienced executive and creative team was selected for its leadership and aesthetic excellence among global competitors to design, build and install a major themed environment for the LEGOLAND® Florida Hotel,” stated Oldham. “Our successful history of developing dynamic signature-themed products and thrilling elements from conception to completion are found throughout this nationally recognized hotel.”

A&ES is expert in iconic branding by designing, engineering, fabricating, artistically executing, installing, finishing and project management by collaborating and coordinating with the on-site architects and engineers, all laser-focused on the execution and launching of the LEGO® DUPLO concept of the hotel. This project included completion of the Dragon Tower, a four-story high (plus 40 feet) project using proprietary composite honeycomb fiberglass-to-skin techniques and processes. The iconic molded dragon feature is located at the entry of the hotel and interfaces with the A&ES-designed Porte-Cochere. A&ES fabricated the visibly geared and working external quad Tower Clockson the Tower’s entry façade complete with a phenomenally exciting CO2 effect showcasing a dynamic and overwhelmingly impressive dragon blowing intense smoke-like steam from giant sculpted and bulging 3D nostrils highlighted with LED multi-color lighting effects, all encapsulated in steel and fiberglass.

Four well-recognized LEGO® characters are cornered externally on the bottom as if providing a foundation to hold up the tower. Highlighting the extraordinary talented A&ES team, the Castle features an implied “stacked LEGO® brick” pattern of which is theme-painted to replicate LEGO® blocks. The Castle’s well-recognized-in-miniature modular towers and flag, as well as the coat-of-arms and drawbridge ramp over the moat and torches by the gargantuan drawbridge doors, bring forward excitement and light the imagination of youngsters and adult alike who ambulate inside. Trees offer sitting areas for adults while children look up-and-around with hands waved and shrieking voices as a result of animated eagerness to experience more and more of the environment. The Pirate Ship features fully themed walls and a bow mimicking a tall-masted and cannon-laden 17th century Spanish Galleon treasure-seeking sailing ships of the past with railings to keep the crowd moving. The prominent buccaneer’s ship wheel is a center attraction reminding the participant of pirates sailing high on the mighty crest of sea waves with billowy canvas sails floating above to create a tickling of the senses.

The figurehead on the bow is reminiscent of the many hand-carved ladies facing the ocean wind leading the ship as it sails in unchartered waters. A&ES’ scope of design also includes the Restaurant Entry Façade of which includes themed circle wall, wobble trolley, cake mix, recipe book, ice cream sundae trolley, and spaghetti features. The LEGO ® Trees, Street Lamps and Model-Making Tables (master builder’s workshop, jigsaw tables with IKEA legs, build and test, as well as birthday tables) add yet another element of surprise, all oversized and fun. The whimsical Cupolas, roof Spiresand medieval flags abound. The Sound and LED FX offers wonderful elements of surprise, such as the whoopee cushion with speakers, talking elevator, disco ball, and the audible attention-rousing “flushing” of a children’s sink. The TV Cabinets add media excitement with the spinning game, too, continuing the theme throughout. Completing the complex project is the Hotel Lobby, featuring the Brick Pit and LEGO ® Lobby Display.
