LEGO already released a number of images of 2017 LEGO sets, and we have discussed many of them already (see links at the end of this post). One of the most popular themes is LEGO Ninjago, and since the 2017 LEGO Ninjago sets were revealed just a few days ago, I thought this would be a good time to discuss them. The first wave of 2017 LEGO Ninjago sets are based on the upcoming seventh season of the LEGO Ninjago TV show, titled “The Hands of Time”. The story continues from the LEGO Ninjago: Day of the Departed TV special, and focuses on Kai, Nya, and their parents. While we don’t know the details of the story yet, looking at the sets it is clear that it plays out in some kind of jungle setting with lots of snakes and evil looking samurai.

➡ #70621 LEGO NINJAGO THE VERMILLION ATTACK: This is the smallest of the 2017 LEGO Ninjago sets, but one of the best, as it includes two of the new badguys with unique armor pieces, and a very strange metallic cocoon which will appear in some of the other sets as well. Take a look at that beautiful samurai armor and two fantastic helmets! 8rice should be around $10. ➡ #70622 LEGO NINJAGO DESERT LIGHTNING: This is another smallish set with two bikes, two of the badguys with those unique new helmets, and another samurai-type armor piece. The new ninja suit for Jay also looks amazing! 2y guess is that this set will be around $20, based on the fact that there is a very similar set currently available with two bikes and three minifigures. ➡ #70623 LEGO NINJAGO DESTINY’S SHADOW: This is a mid-size set with a smallish ship that uses two olive-green canoes to shape the back section. Olive-green is always a welcome color, so this set should be popular. The ninja suits for Lloyd and Cole are  nice as well, but we only get one of the badguys. 3

➡ #70624 LEGO NINJAGO VERMILLION INVADER: Here you can see two more of those new cocoon pieces, but this time more rounded and used as projectiles. They should be very useful for space and fantasy builders. Zane is fighting the two badguys and their awesome machine. 3 ➡ #70625 LEGO NINJAGO SAMURAI VXL: What a nicely shaped vehicle we got here! Also notice that this is the first time we see Nya without wearing any red in her outfit. And check out that samurai with gold facemask! This is the first time this piece appears in gold. The badguys’ weapons look awesome as well! 4 ➡ #70626 LEGO NINJAGO DAWN OF IRON DOOM: This is one of the largest sets in the first wave of 2017 LEGO Ninjago sets, and there is a lot to see. Obviously that snake-mech thingy is the biggest attraction, but the tower is also nice. And this is the first time we get the ranger hood in black! 7 ➡ #70627 LEGO NINJAGO DRAGON’S FORGE: This is the largest set in the collection, with another large snake, a two-headed fire-water dragon, a fairly large building with a forge, and Kai and Nya’s parents! L

ooking forward to see the story behind this! 1 As you can see, this is another fantastic wave of LEGO Ninjago sets. I particularly like the new accessories for the badguys, and it is nice to see that they will be available in all of the sets, including the smallest ones. It is also great that none of these sets are too big or expensive, so it shouldn’t be difficult to collect them all, if you choose to. It’s quite amazing that after all these years, LEGO is still able to churn out interesting stories and amazing sets under LEGO Ninjago. While we are waiting for the 2017 LEGO Ninjago sets to arrive, you can also check out the current selection of the LEGO Ninjago sets. There are some very solid offerings like the #70596 LEGO Ninjago Samurai X Cave Chaos, the #70738 LEGO Ninjago Final Flight of Destiny’s Bounty, the #70595 LEGO Ninjago Ultra Stealth Raider, and of course the beautiful #70751 LEGO Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu. You can find them all under the LEGO Ninjago section of the Online LEGO Shop.

So what do you think? How do you like the 2017 LEGO Ninjago sets so far? Do you have any favorites that you are definitely planning to get? What do you think the story will be about? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

Thank you for your feedback Previously, we looked into the possible names of the latest LEGO CMF Series that was revealed during this weekend’s New York Toy Fair. The LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 17 (71018) is one of the 300 new sets/items that LEGO has promised to reveal during the NYTF. However, TLG still seems to be leveraging on the excitement of the Toy Fair by holding back on its reveals to the general public. The sets from LEGO’s third cinematic offering, The LEGO Ninjago Movie, has been revealed at NYTF but as it turned out, any kind of video recording or photography is not allowed.

Can't take pictures of the #LEGO #ninjago movie sets but they're awesome! — BZPower (@BZP_Tweets) February 18, 2017 Fortunately for us, Jason and the kind folks from BZPower were there to capture the excitement of the Toy Fair for everyone’s enjoyment. Though prohibited to take photos, BZPower was kind enough to describe some of the LNM sets on display, having as reference the trailer of the film. You may want to watch the trailer one more time to have a good grasp on what sets we can expect from this theme. First off, the minifigures that were reported to come with the LNM sets are: Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane, Lloyd, and Nya. According to BZPower, they look exactly like their versions as shown in the LEGO Ninjago Movie trailer. Lord Garmadon and Master Wu. Both characters are given a ‘rebooted’ version, though it is not mentioned if they will both be appearing in a same set or each will get their own. Lloyd’s mom and Master Wu’s sister-in-law, Koko, is also said to make an appearance in a particular LEGO set.

Other minor characters which include several citizens of Ninjago City, and Garmadon’s henchmen. Not-so-ordinary minifigs such as baddies wearing sea creature costumes similar to Shark Suit Guy, and headgears that looks like a crab, octopus and puffer fish of sorts. The LEGO Ninjago Movie collectible minifigures (71019). Though there has been varying reports about the actual number of characters included in this set, it is more plausible that the said CMF will feature 16, never-before-seen minifigures. On to the sets. If you recall, we featured last month a list of possible set names rumored to be included in The LEGO Ninjago Movie theme. The list initially appeared in Brickset and Pricevortex, but for some reason was removed afterwards. Let us see if we can compare the descriptions provided by BZPower to that of what we know regarding the set names. Please bear in mind that this is my own theory, and we hope to confirm this once the official images roll in before August.

BZPower confirms that the host of enemy ships at the start of the trailer gets an official LEGO set. These flying ships resemble something like a giant manta ray, with a predominant gray color. Perhaps these manta-like ships will be included in the Ninjago City Invasion (70620). It was also confirmed that Lloyd’s impressive green dragon will also be having a building set of its own. We’re not sure of what set this might belong to since Dragon’s Cove (70611) and Ninjago City Invasion (70620) are both likely candidates. Kai’s mech as seen in the trailer, reminds me much of the LEGO Ideas Exosuit (21109), but on a whole new level. We can only surmise that this is Kai’s Blazing Breaker (70614), though it may not look exactly like the one used by Kai in the film since it was scaled down a bit. However, if LEGO will consider making a UCS-like set of Kai’s mech, then I will not be surprised if this will be LEGO Ninjago’s best set ever. Cole’s one-wheeled mech was not on display at the time.

We’ll just wait later on if this is one of the fourteen LNM sets that LEGO has been keeping under wraps before they become officially available in August. The four-legged, spider-like mech piloted by Zane was also reported to be coming as an official LEGO set. BZPower was a little unsure though if this set can be considered as the final version of Zane’s four-legged ride. The ship that flies in the background of this screen grab was said to belong to Jay, and as far as the report goes, the actual set is a very close rendition of the one seen in the film and may perhaps bear the set name, Jay’s Electro Waver (70606) Destiny’s Bounty gets a reboot for The LEGO Ninjago Movie, and is believed to be grandest version of the ship as of to date. As a final note, it was also mentioned that there will be smaller, ‘non-vehicle’ playsets to be offered under the LNM theme. Their overall design, as BZPower points out, “were well done and probably some of the best Ninjago sets we’ve gotten to date”.
