The Danish company recently unveiled its newest flagship store, and it’s smack dab in the middle of Manhattan’s Flatiron district. (That’s right — you won’t have to head to tourist magnet Rock Center anymore to get your mega LEGO on.)

The shop’s grand opening is this weekend — see what LEGO has planned and take a look inside! Located at 200 5th Avenue between 23rd and 24th Streets, the LEGO Store Flatiron District is a whopping 3,500 square feet. (The store’s impressive footprint is what earns it the label of “flagship”; LEGO’s other properties dubbed as such can be found in Minnesota’s Mall of America and at Disney’s Florida and California parks.) The Flatiron store reflects its home in both the macro and micro sense. The front windows along 23rd St. feature multiple New York scenes rendered in oversized LEGO murals. Inside, LEGO sculptures depicting the evolution of the Flatiron District itself — from farmland to circus site to current day business and residential area — preside over the colorful sales floor. (Fast fact to impress your kids/friends: many of the more elaborate LEGO creations were designed and built by LEGO Master Builders — that’s a thing? — in a Czechoslovakian shop and shipped over by boat.)

Other unique features of this LEGO Mecca include an eight-foot-tall LEGO model of the Statue of Liberty (she lights up!); a striking LEGO sculpture of the flagship store’s mascot, Brickley the Dragon, which weaves throughout the space, and a miniature replica of the store and surrounding neighborhood for kids to build upon. Is your little builder seeking a LEGO in a transparent lime hue? You’re in luck!: the store is also outfitted with a “Pick-a-Brick” wall, where shoppers can load up on individual LEGOs by the cupful. The majority of the store’s inventory is a dizzying number of LEGO kits, which can be assembled to create everything from superhero and space scenes to castles, architectural monuments, and sushi. The store will also include the first-ever LEGO Lounge. With the mini LEGO store replica as its centerpiece, the lounge will be outfitted with comfortable seating and charging stations for presumably weary parents, as well as a Library of LEGO books, a LEGO carpet, and even Duplo LEGOS in a preschool building area.

The LEGO Store Flatiron District will host its grand opening on Columbus Day weekend, with festivities kicking off on Friday from 4-6 p.m. As part of the celebration, LEGO Master Builders will be constructing a 20-foot-tall LEGO model of the Statue of Liberty in nearby Madison Square Park throughout the holiday weekend, and everyone is invited to help. (All participants will receive a “Certificate of Achievement” for taking part.) The statue will remain on display in the park after its completion for several days. (In store, LEGO will be rewarding customers who make minimum purchases with a different LEGO premium each day of the grand opening festivities.) Beyond the opening weekend events, you can expect monthly Mini Model Builds for kids ages six to 14 on the first Tuesday of every month, during which children can make a seasonally-themed model and take it home — for free! The store will also host LEGO Club Meetings. The LEGO Store Flatiron District 200 5th Avenue between 23rd and 24th St.

LEGOLAND has arrived in Manhattan. Well, a store at least, and in typical New York fashion, there’s a multi-day party to celebrate. The public opening of the city’s very first LEGO store located in Rockefeller Center drew scores of New Yorkers who came out this morning to help the so-called LEGO ‘Master Builders’ construct the world’s biggest ‘Big Apple’ model made entirely out of LEGO bricks. In the building area that surrounds the ice rink, New Yorkers will lend a hand putting together large LEGO bricks that LEGO Master Model Builder, Dan Steininger, says are four times the size of the typical 2x4 bricks. Steininger, along with other official model builders, will then inspect all of these bricks to make sure they are “up to quality”, and will then construct the giant apple expected to reach 16-feet tall and 12-feet wide.

The entire event will last three days ending at 3pm on Thursday when the last brick is placed on the big apple. Inside the store, the vibrant LEGO haven has intricate models of iconic New York City landmarks on display, as well as the largest  ‘Pick-a-Brick’ LEGO wall of any LEGO stores, with buckets of over 100 different bricks in nearly every color imaginable (including hard-to-find pinks) lining the main wall.New LEGO Store Brings "Master Builders" to Rockefeller CenterThe new LEGO store is located on 5th Avenue between 49th and 50th Streets and the three-day Big Apple building celebration, open free to the public, lasts until this Thursday, July 1st at 3pm.FIND MORE PRODUCTS LIKE THIS When I walked down 23rd Street, I was amazed and delighted by looking at the variety of characters made by Legos. Because that made my day, I took several photos looking into the store from the outside. I absolutely loved this store. If you go to NYC you must stop in Rockefeller Center and the Lego Store is right there, so you cannot miss it.

My husband and I bought the Beatles Yellow Submarine Lego. It has amazing stuff on Star Wars as well. Denmark 5th January 2016 RE: Visit to Lego Store, Rockefeller Centre, New York I feel I must contact you directly to make you aware of the most fantastic service my husband and I received at your LEGO store during a recent visit to New York. It is a retail shop for Lego products. Perfectly located at the Rockefeller center. The shop itself is beautiful, organized and clean. Wonderful displays of Lego designs and buildings. The staff are friendly and helpful. Not too much choices when it comes to articles to purchase but you will find something to buy at the end. This store is a popular tourist spot (it's in Rock Center, duh!), and has an amazing staff an lots of cool displays. Of course, the prices are higher here because of Manhattan rents. If you're a local and just wanna buy LEGOs, head to the Queens mall location for the cheaper prices. Visited during the busy period and had another look around when it was quiet, great set of displays and made my partner want to buy everything in the store.

All the legos seemed to be the same price as the ones you buy in store, maybe a bit more or less with a few sets, and I liked how you... I've read some of the reviews expressing sadness that this is just a Lego store, of course, its not Legoland, its a retail premises, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun! There are a few local treats, like the Statue of Liberty (although the fridge magnet is better than the build your own), there are plenty of boxsets from... The Lego Store was very crowded both times we visited. Other than a small NYC lego building display, this store was very much like all of the other Lego Stores we have visited. This is just a store that sells legos. I was expecting more, a place where kids could interact but there was nothing. Just boxes of legos and displays that kids cannot touch. Think they are trying to get gear it more towards collectors rather than children. We have nothing this side that can compare ..... the master builders have been so busy that the place took my breath away !!!!
