But that's exactly what TT Games are doing in the upcoming LEGO Marvel’s Avengers - the latest in a long list of blockbusters tackled by the British developers. "Since it's the same team on this game, we all knew that we wanted to up the stakes," TT Games Director, Arthur Parsons told Standard.co.uk. "We've gone over every part of the game to improve upon its predecessor. More gameplay, improved combat, new team-up features, more HUB locations, more characters, more humour, more everything." Given their success with the likes of LEGO Lord of the Rings and LEGO Batman, Avengers won't stray too far from what fans expect from a TT game. So how have they stopped it from feeling stale? As Parsons explains, the devil is in the detail. "We have added things everywhere!" he says. "Even down to subtle things like Captain America automatically switching the hand he carries his shield with based on proximity to enemies. "Other examples are things like Hulk being able to super jump around New York City, Quicksilver running up buildings and over water and players now being able to perform team-up combo moves."

Best PS4 and Xbox One games 2015 - in pictures One new addition, though, proved a sticking point in the development process: Iron Man. "He was the hardest character to get right," explains Parsons. "Getting 15 Iron Man suits to feel unique, all with specific suit-up animations, all in memory on the Jarvis interface, including the Hulkbuster, was probably the toughest! Ultimately, it was also the most gratifying." Thankfully, just as much attention has been given to the game worlds and story, which Parsons explains will recreate iconic movie moments and classic comic stories. "There are eight HUB environments (to explore)," says Parsons. "Whether you're riding around New York City as Thanos, in his own Thanos Copter to smashing bad guys as Stan Lee in the StanBuster, players can expect a huge game." But how about the visuals? According to Parsons, even though it is the same in-house engine used in their other titles, players can expect a "big difference". "The team is now getting more out of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles than ever before," he says.

Authentic audio is also critical if the game is to capture the spirit of the Marvel universe. "Iconic Avengers themes are essential to the game for that layer of authenticity, that moment that makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck," Parsons explains. "We also have same character voices included that you know and love from the Avengers films, adding that extra layer of cinematic authenticity." If the above is anything to go by, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers sounds like another smash hit. First Sony title to top the chart for two weeks since The Last of Us: Remastered. Ratchet & Clank has held on to the UK video game chart No.1 spot for a second week, with only a 49 per cent drop off in sales week-on-week, reports Chart-Track. Insomniac's remake is the first Sony title to top the chart for two weeks straight since The Last of Us: Remastered back in 2014. It's also the seventh biggest first-party launch for Sony. Chart-Track also points out that Sony's PS4 exclusive games have now spent eight weeks at the top of the All Formats Chart, whilst Microsoft's exclusives for Xbox One have managed just five weeks. The release of Black Ops 3's Eclipse DLC and associated retailer promotions have also helped the shooter surge 82 per cent up, moving up five places into second spot - its highest since it last topped the chart in week 7. Nintendo's Yo-Kai Watch, meanwhile, is the only new release this week, debuting at No.14. The lack of new releases also meant there was a chance for other titles to climb thanks to retailer pushes ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend, with Lego Marvel Avengers up to No.6, GTA 5 to No.8, and Far Cry Primal returning to the Top 10 at No.9.
