As we reported yesterday, the Agents of SHIELD DLC pack has been released for the Lego Avengers video game.  Today Gavin and I are here with a review.  This review is specifically for the Agents of SHIELD DLC, if you’d like to read a more in-depth review of the whole game, we reported that back on March 29th.  Click here to read that more detailed review on the game itself. The Agents of SHIELD downloadable content (DLC) is the latest add on for the Lego Avengers game.  Previous DLC packs include: Captain Marvel (characters and level) Masters of Evil (characters and level) Avengers Explorer (character pack) Avengers Adventurer (character pack) Doctor Strange (characters and level) Black Panther (characters and level) There are also a Civil War character pack and Ant-Man character pack / playable level but that is only available for Playstation 4. Agents of SHIELD is a playable level and the following additional playable characters: The Lego Avengers Agents of SHIELD level is based on season two of Agents of SHIELD television show, and pits the Agents of SHIELD against Inhumans.

If you just finished watching season 3 last night, there is no Hive or any of the new characters that were introduced in season 3 of the show. The synopsis for the level reads:  “The team finds itself in a dangerous position after failing to make peace with the enigmatic Inhumans.  The Inhumans have now occupied the SHIELD Helicarrier and it’s up to the Agents of SHIELD to neutralize the threat and uncover the secrets of Afterlife.” The story begins with May and Simmons landing a Quinjet at Afterlife and goes from there.  No spoilers from us, but this is the beginning of the level. Like the other DLC character/level packs the level itself is fun but not anything too long or involved.  Like all the other levels, once you have completed the level in Story Mode you can go back with any character and replay the level in Free Play Mode (also unlocking some treasure unavailable in Story Mode). All the fun in this DLC is in actually playing the characters.  If you don’t watch Agents of SHIELD, the DLC pack probably won’t interest you (but since you’ve read this far, we’ll assume that it does).

In case you are wondering, Coulson isn’t listed on the DLC because he is already available in the base game.  Clark Gregg (Director Coulson) is actually one of the main narrators of the story, along with Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill).  So now two players can join forces as Coulson and Melinda May, for example. The DLC level is narrated by Actress Ming-Na Wen who plays Agent Melinda May on the show.  Disney fans will also recognize her voice talents from the 1998 movie Mulan where she voiced the lead character. In addition to being able to play all of the characters in the SHIELD vs. The Inhumans level, you’ll be able to play them in any of the other levels as well.  Playing two player mode?  You can actually play together as FitzSimmons! Seeing as it’s based on season 2, there is no Zephyr-One plane, but The Bus is available and ready to go.  We felt like Lego Melinda May would use it to fly to her favorite pizza joint in NYC.  And park right in front, because she can.

The question is – what kind of pizza would The Cavalry eat? The characters have powers that coincide with their characters – Deathlok can fire missiles, Lincoln can shoot lightning from his hands, Agent May has dual pistols, Quake has a variety of shock wave attacks.  Of course Coulson has his Destroyer Gun and if you haven’t played the base game there is a playable challenge where you have to protect a flying Lola from Ultron drones! Here is a gallery of some of the other playable characters including Agent Koenig, Daisy, Gordon, Lincoln and Bobbi Morse. [Best_Wordpress_Gallery id=”18″ gal_title=”AoS DLC Lego Avengers”] The Agents of SHIELD DLC is a fantastic addition to the Lego Avengers game.  If you’re a fan of the show, you will love playing all of the characters.Latest ReviewsPS4 Review - 'Malicious Fallen'PS4 Review - 'Horizon: Zero Dawn'PS4 Review - 'Livelock'PC Review - 'Human: Fall Flat'More Reviews »Latest PreviewsPS4/XOne/PC Preview - '2Dark'XOne/PC Preview - 'Halo Wars 2'PS4/XOne/PC Preview - 'Ride 2'PS4/XOne/PC Preview - 'Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3'More Previews »AdvertisingArchives by DayFebruary 2017SuMTuWThFSa12345678910111213141516171819202122232425262728LEGO Marvel's AvengersPlatform(s):Genre:Publisher:Developer:Release Date:About RainierAdvertising'LEGO Marvel's Avengers' (ALL) Gets Captain America and Ant-Man DLC Packs On PS3/PS4 - Screens & Trailerby Rainier on Jan. 13
