The Black Panther downloadable content for LEGO Marvel’s Avengers dropped today. It features several panther idols and a panther-headed monorail, along with several less interesting things. Available today for $2.99 or free with the $9.99 season pass, the Classic Black Panther Pack for LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is worth it just to run around LEGO landscapes as the caped Black Panther and his sister, Shuri. The brother and sister duo star in a rather tame Black Panther adventure. T’Challa and Shuri must save Wakanda’s Panther Theme Park (or just Wakanda itself) from the evil Klaw and the Black Knight. It’s basic stuff, and the final battle is just awful. Luckily you don’t have to play it, as I already did. At least we get some cool new characters to play! Back in the core game Black Panther and Shuri are joined by their adopted brother the White Wolf, Klaw, Black Knight, Killmonger, a Dora Milaje warrior and my personal favorite, M’Baku the Man-Ape as newly selectable brick people.

Shuri really is the best.With comic and movie fans excited for “Captain America: Civil War,” it’s only fitting that “Lego Marvel’s Avengers” would have some downloadable content (DLC) related to the film. The DLC will be free, and will include characters from the aforementioned “Civil War,” along with last year’s surprise hit “Ant-Man.”The DLC was announced on the official PlayStation Blog, where the developers also announced that the content would be exclusive to PS4 and PS3 owners. It’s an interesting statement to say the least, and should get a few last-minute buys for the game.It’s not just a few characters either, as the “Civil War Pack” will come with nine characters, some of which are alternate versions of characters already in the game. The DLC pack will come with “Civil War” versions of Captain America, Falcon, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Winter Soldier, War Machine, Agent 13 (Sharon Carter) and Crossbones.Even better is the “Ant-Man Pack,” which comes with 11 new characters and a bonus level.
The level will be based on one of the film’s sets, though it’s not yet known which setting will be chosen.Characters included in the DLC Pack are two versions of Ant-Man (Hank Pym and Scott Lang), Yellowjacket, Cassie Lang, Darren Cross, Cassie Lang, Hope Van Dyne, Hank and Scott without their Ant-Man suits and Ant-Thony the flying ant. It seems like most of these characters will be new to the game, though Ant-Man previously appeared in “Lego Marvel Super Heroes.”Game Informer has confirmed that the DLC will be exclusive for a limited time, so Xbox and Wii U players can rejoice. It’s not known if the DLC will continue to be free after it’s no longer exclusive to PlayStation users, though it is likely.“Lego Marvel’s Avengers” will be available on Jan. 26 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS, PS Vita and PC. The game will retell the events of various Marvel films in lego form, including “Avengers,” ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Iron Man 3,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Thor: The Dark World.”
While a number of characters will come from the movies, there will also be a ton of heroes and villains who have only appeared in the comics. Not only will the DLC be free, but will, apparently, be exclusive to PS4 and PS3. LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is out later this month, and ships with content based on six films. However, another two will be added to PlayStation platforms in the future for free. This content is based off Ant-Man and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.
Up first is the Captain America: Civil War Character Pack, which will launch January 26 alongside the game. The pack comes with nine characters designed to match their on-screen counterparts. You’ll play as Captain America, Iron Man (Mark 46 Armor), Black Panther, Winter Soldier, Falcon, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Crossbones, and Agent 13. You will be able to take all of these characters into the main game’s levels and open world locations. The second is the Ant-Man Character & Level Pack, which is based off the film that came out last year. This pack will be available later this spring and comes with a level based on the film. This pack adds eleven characters: Ant-Man (Scott Lang), Ant-Man (Hank Pym), Ant-Thony (Flying Ant), Cassie Lang, Darren Cross, Scott Lang, Hank Pym, Hope Van Dyne, Luis, The Wasp (Janet Van Dyne), and Yellowjacket.
