The De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver has always been one of my favorite planes and so I decided to build it out of Lego. The plane itself with removable roof, interior and retractable landing gear A jetty to tie up the plane It was really fun to build the plane. Who wouldn't like to have a small log cabin in Canada in front of a lake with a floatplane? If you want to find out more about the real plane click here. Updates with alternate color schemes will come soon! I also want to thank Anduin1710 for the excellent pictures. Make sure to check out his projects! I hope you like my project. Like grand designs for kids on a Lego budgetWe love LEGO® Minifigures and we love Canada, so what could be better than the two of them together?! We’ve put together a list of Minifigures we think are most likely to be Canucks. How many of these do you have in your collection? The official backstory for this Minifigure is that he was raised by a pack of wolves out on the frozen tundra, then discovered by a traveling sports agent and recruited into the even wilder world of professional ice hockey. He’d be our first round pick. Fun fact: Two Minifigure-based LEGO Hockey sets were released in 2004, featuring puck-flicking bases and helmets with clear visors.

A 1x1 LEGO roundplate is used for a puck. This guy has got to be the most Canadian of them all. A true Minifigure of the outdoors, the Lumberjack builds his own log cabins, cooks his own stews, brews his own maple syrup, and avoids the big city as much as possible. He’s pretty hard-headed, which comes in handy when the trees he chops down fall in the wrong direction! Fun fact: The “Kel” on the Lumberjack’s shirt is for Kel Henson, a real Canadian LEGO fan whose favourite animal is the beaver. The snowboarder is happiest when the wind blows and the temperature drops. She travels to the coldest places in the world, and moves on as soon as the weather warms up. It’s not hard to imagine this Minifigure taking on the slopes of the Canadian Rockies. The Ice Fisherman carefully chooses the right spot to drill a hole in the ice. Then he lowers his fishing line and waits… and waits… and waits. He might wait for hours, days, or even weeks, but he always catches something eventually.

And the longer it takes, the better his catch turns out to be. (We like to think he calls the Canadian Arctic home). Fun fact: Although a winter hood element already existed, an entirely new one was designed for the Ice Fisherman’s parka. Everything but the fur around the face opening is painted. We can all see ourselves in this Minifigure – from clearing the driveway on a January morning! Part of the Winter Village line from 2011, this brave guy keeps warm in a new fur-trimmed hood. We think this hearty Minifigure hails from the Maritimes! The Fisherman is full of stories of the sea, like the time he caught a school of flying fish with a butterfly net, or when he hooked a giant squid but had to throw it back because it wasn’t giant squid season. Fun fact: If you happen to lose the Fisherman’s beard, don’t worry – he’s got another one underneath! LEGO, the LEGO logo, the Brick and Knob configuration and the Minifigure are trademarks of the LEGO Group.
