Links and More Information Probably I'm not the only one surprised by the early retirement of several quite recent Star Wars sets. I decided to make an overview of all non-polybag Star Wars sets in Europe and in the United States. The list below is the result. It is divided in subs '2013', '2014', 'January 2015', 'during 2015'. At least in the Netherlands you can find toy stores that still have some of these retired and Shop-at-home-sold-out sets, some even from 2013. In 2013 there were 26 new Star Wars sets. All have been retired or at least can't be found on LEGO Shop at Home anymore. In 2014 there were 30 new Star Wars sets. In Europe all of these but the UCS Sand Crawler have already been retired. The Sand Crawler is out of stock until tomorrow (expectedly). The Sand Crawler is also the only available set in the United States. The 'sold out' sets will probably retire soon. Whether the Sand Crawler (the last surviving Star Wars set of 2014) will be retired soon, isn't clear.
On the one hand, it's a special set (UCS). On the other hand, it isn't featured in The Force Awakens. I recommend you don't wait too long to buy this set, just to be sure. If you happen to find any 2013 or 2014 sets on the shelves of your local toy store, now is probably your last chance to get them. Beginning 2015 there were 20 new Star Wars sets. Remarkably, 9 of them have already retired, 1 sold out (in Europe). Several of the other sets being out of stock and none of them having specific reference to the new movie, it seems likely the remaining half of these sets will be retired soon. If you can find a retired 2015 set in your shop, now is the time. These will probably become collector items, having only been available during 1 year. Out of those sets I personally have highest expectations of 75083 AT-DP. During 2015, 21 sets were issued. 7 of them deal with subjects found in the new movie. For easy reference, these are marked blue in the above schedule. Half of these sets are out of stock in Europe.
I personally see this as an early retirement warning (especially for the non-Force-Awakens-sets), but opinions on this may differ. For the sake of completeness: no sets exist for numbers 75026, 75027, 75047 and 75061 to 75071. The LEGO® Group has made plentiful of unique minifigures over the last 40 decades, with over 4.3 billion LEGO® minifigures produced until date.
Below are some of the popular minifigures in the history of LEGO®: Being the first of the superhero minifigures ever created by LEGO®, Spiderman minifigures were launched as part of the Spiderman movie-based Spider-Man Action Studio set in the early 2000s. The first Spiderman minifigure came with silver meshings for the spider webs printed on the front and the back. Several different versions of the Spiderman minifigure were produced from 2002 to 2004. There were no other variants of Spiderman minifigures until 2012. In 2013, LEGO® took inspiration from Marvel Comics and produced an aesthetically designed Spiderman with accurate facial and body print details. It has dynamic silver meshings for the webs and light-blue speckled printing on the front and back of the torso. It is also the most popular of all Spiderman minifigures that LEGO® has ever created. One of the most iconic fictional antagonists of this generation is the Sith Lord, Darth Vader. The first Darth Vader minifigure was produced as part of the LEGO® Classic Star Wars line in 1999.
The minifigure had the most detailed facial expressions compared to other LEGO® minifgures. This Darth Vader had few reflective buttons on the body, a mould for a helmet, a black cape and a red lightsaber. This minifigure did not undergo any changes until 2005. In 2008, LEGO® launched two new versions of the minifigure, one without the cape and the other, a more menacing looking Darth Vader. The minifigure went through a natural progression of becoming better over the years, with a rare chrome plated minifigure that stood out among the rest and the ones that were launched in 2015 came with removable helmets and best facial detailing. LEGO® Captain America minifigure was launched in 2012 as part of Marvel Super Heroes LEGO® set, Captain America’s Avenging Cycle from the movie, The Avengers. The minifigure came with a dark blue suit with some well-designed printed details, dark red hands and the indispensable superhero armor – vibranium shield. The minifigure went through some modifications over the last few years, and in 2015, LEGO® came up with an updated version of the 2012 Captain America Super Hero minifigure, with more intricate body printing and facial detailing.
The first LEGO® Batman minifigure was made in 2006 within three different sets. It had a light grey and black body suit, with a black helmet, trademark black cape, a yellow utility belt on his torso and a custom bat symbol. The minifigure underwent some variations until 2015, when two versions of the Batman minifigure line were released – one that had a new helmet with a smaller ears and an open mouthpiece, softer cape, black and grey suit, and black boots; the other was the scuba version of the same Batman. The most well liked character from Star Wars and the most well known astromech droid is R2-D2. The very first LEGO® R2-D2 minifigure came out as part of the X-Wing Starfighter Building Set in the year 1999. The minifigure had reflective silver and blue printing on its head and some detailing in the body. The most favorite of all R2-D2s made so far was released in 2015. Sharing details from the designs of the earlier astromech droids, this minifigure has been part of plenty of sets based off Star Wars movies released in the past years.
Minifigures of Stormtroopers, the popular shock troopers of the Galactic Empire of the Star Wars series, were first released in 2001. Since then, Stormtrooper minifigures have been featured in several STAR Wars themed sets of LEGO®. The most common version of the minifigure has Stormtroopers donning a white armor, black head under the helmet and detailed printing on the front and back of the body. A special edition Chrome Silver Stormtrooper Magnet Minifigure was released in 2009 to commemorate 10 years of LEGO Star Wars. The original Jango Fett minifigure, based on the Star Wars bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe, was introduced in 2002. It had a jetpack mould in blue and silver with a helmet at the back of its torso, along with two classic revolver pistols in its hands. The minifigure had a black head with a yellow face printed on it. Later on, LEGO® released two newer versions of Jango Fett – 2013 dark blue version of Jango Fett and the Santa Jango Fett. Based on the title character at the heart of J.K. Rowling’s best-selling fantasy series, LEGO® Harry Potter is an extremely popular minifigure worldwide.
Harry Potter minifigure appears in all of the LEGO® sets from the Harry Potter theme, and has gone through several changes since it came out in 2001. The first Harry Potter minifigure donned a blue jacket and a baggy white shirt, had yellow hands and a descriptive face with circular eyeglasses on. Several versions of Harry were released from 2002 until 2010. The most popular Harry Potter minifigure, comes in blue jacket holding a wand, is part of the Hogwarts Castle Set.
