Our Favorite Movie Hit Men Action Movies You Need to See Before You Die, According to the Makers of 'John Wick: Chapter 2'Just 30 minutes from Orlando and its theme parks—Walt Disney World, Seaworld, and Universal Orlando Resort—is Haines City, a small town tucked amidst lakes, orange groves, a golf course, and an impressive community park. The setting and the balmy weather, which usually hovers in the 70s or 80s, makes for an ideal springtime race. The easy-to-navigate setting also allows triathletes to focus on what they do best—swim, bike and run. We recommend renting a house and a car, to make travel convenient. Extend your stay with a visit to Orlando, or just take it easy in Haines City. Either way, you can’t go wrong. Read on for our Friday through Monday guide to racing this friendly Florida race. Day 1: Arrive and explore 2 p.m. Get settled before trekking to IRONMAN Village at Lake Eva Park, the race site. Check in, get your packet, and scope the swim and run areas before knocking out the 3 p.m. athlete briefing.

For an easy dinner that will leave time to unwind and unpack, try family owned Dora's Pizza. Take a seat at a table in the cozy yellow dining space and order what some locals call "the best pizza in Florida." Get a slice of pie, pasta dishes, salads, sandwiches, entrees and BYOB. Don't miss the cheesecake. If Mexican favorites are your thing, try vibrant La Fiesta Mexicana in the Downtown Haines City Commercial District, a U.S. historic district with 20 historic buildings. The Haines City Public Library is nearby. 7:30 p.m. Keep your taper schedule on track with rest—and a dessert—while catching a flick at AMC Disney Springs 24 in Buena Vista. It's a 30-minute drive from Haines City, but the dine-in atmosphere is fun and makes for a tame evening. Or, skip the movie and reward the troop at YoDaddio Frozen Yogurt in Davenport, about 15 minutes from Haines City, where there is a staggering array of toppings for iced treats. At Webb's Candy Factory also in Davenport, you'll find coveted citrus candies, chocolates, and specialty candies from a company operating since 1932.

It's usually open until 9 p.m. Day 2: Plan and unwind 7 a.m. Grab an early breakfast at retro diner Nikko's Egg City. Get omelets with farm-fresh eggs, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy—you name it. Expect carefully selected ingredients (Idaho potatoes and Columbian coffee). Take a seat in a bright-yellow leather chair or turquoise leather banquette and look for the Elvis statue in the corner. They can participate in the IRONKIDS Dip & Dash (starting at 9 a.m.) or the IRONKIDS Fun Run (at 10 a.m.).  Registration for both begins at 7:30 a.m., and ends at 8:30 a.m. for the Dip & Dash and 9:30 a.m. for the Fun Run.Following the kids' races, get your practice swim in at 11 a.m. in Lake Eva. Bonus: you don’t have to check your bike in early—so plan to bring it the following morning. Noon: Hand-tossed pizzas, coconut shrimp, quesadillas, soft tacos, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, salads—you'll find an extensive menu and friendly atmosphere at Shady Cove Bar & Grill come lunchtime.

Take your race sherpas to the Fantasy of Flight museum, which houses vintage aircraft from early flight to post-WWII and it's just a short drive away to Polk City. With the world's largest private collection of storied aircraft on view, you'll all be kept busy. Take it one step further with a 15-minute biplane ride over the grove and lake-dotted landscape, or take the controls to a Boeing Stearman PT-17 for a half-hour. You could also hop over to Ridge Island Groves, a family owned citrus grove to explore and pick your own fruit. Grab some ice cream from the Clermont Store and Ice Cream Shoppe while you're there. 6 p.m. Art fills the walls in Jackie's Art Café and live music often plays from 5 to 8 p.m., so there's plenty to distract your cheering squad—and you—from that building excitement and nervous energy. You'll find both plant-based and regular menus, with fresh salads, wraps, sandwiches (chicken, pork), and more. Day 3: Tackle the courseYou'll kick off the day with a jump into the fresh water of Lake Eva, a scenic, 171-acre natural lake in the Peace River watershed.

Your family can cheer for you along the shoreline before you take on the moderately hilly one-loop bike course, which winds through Polk County past orange groves and through downtown. They can cheer you on from several spots in Polk County or catch you again in transition. The final leg is a three-loop run—also with moderate hills—that winds on roads and paths around Lake Eva. Children can play in the community water park or pool on site, or on the park's playground or tennis courts while they wait. This one is a fun and spectator-friendly race with everything stationed at the park. 5 p.m. Grab your faithful friends and reward them—and yourself—with dinner at Manny's Original Chop House. The 12-ounce sirloin steak is discounted on Sundays, but there are plenty of other options: buffalo wings, quesadillas, fried green tomatoes, filet mignon, New York strip steak, seafood, chicken dishes, burgers, sandwiches. Wines, bottled and on-tap beers and cocktails are here, too.For a great place to get a glass of wine and have a second toast to your day, head to Grape Expectations, about 20 minutes from Haines City in Winter Haven.
