Каждый персонаж в игре имеет свои определённые способности, например умение стрелять из лука или возможность извлечения минералов. Игровой процесс Lego The Hobbit проходит на большой карте, а не на отдельной локации, тем самым давая возможность игроку выполнять миссии в любом порядке. Локации в игре во многом основаны на местах из кинофильмов. Игра охватывает события первых двух фильмов кинотрилогии «Хоббит». Вместе с Бильбо Бэггинсом и его друзьями нам предстоит отправиться в путешествие по Средиземью. В игре представлено множество персонажей из кинотрилогии, каждый из которых обладает своими специальными умениями.

Traveller’s Tales, creator of the fantastic LEGO games, has announced today a new LEGO game based off a popular book series that you may have heard of…While some may see these as kids games, I’ll have to give TT credit because the last few games (LEGO Batman 2, LEGO Marvel, LEGO Lord of the Rings), have been exceptionally fun – yes, even for a “kids game”. In LEGO The Hobbit, kids and families will be able to take on the form of their favorite Hobbit characters, including Bilbo, Gandalf, and all of the Dwarves: Thorin, Fíli, Kíli, Óin, Glóin, Dwalin, Balin Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori and Ori. Each has his own special – and quite hilarious – ability: For instance, Bombur can be used as a trampoline that enables his companions “belly-bounce” out of danger! Players will visit key locations from the films, including Bag End, Bilbo’s Hobbit-hole in Hobbiton, trek through the treacherous High Pass over The Misty Mountains, and explore the depths of Goblin-town, Mirkwood and Rivendell.
