Our latest geeky Doom find is this sprawling Lego reconstruction that pits Doomguy against brick-built Martian baddies from the seminal 1993 FPS. These spectacular plastic pixels have been arranged by Iain Heath, who you may know as Ochre Jelly on YouTube and Flickr. He’s whipped up numerous amazing builds in this style before, like his Pythonscape series and these great Futurama figurines. Iain has packed an unbelievable amount of detail into his reconstruction of id Software’s classic. There are imps and former humans galore, several snarling Pinkies, and a massive floating Cacodemon. The ferocious Cyberdemon is also stomping around the scene, ready to unleash a rocket-powered attack on our heroic space marine. Doomguy has access to the bulk of his arsenal, too: minigun, double-barreled shotgun, rocket launcher, and of course, the chainsaw. Iain also scattered a couple barrels of toxic sludge throughout the scene in case Doomguy needs to even the score in a hurry. Unfortunately, there’s only a single first aid kit available to replenish his health.
Like so many of the mind-blowing Lego creations we’ve shared, Heath’s Doom diorama is going to be on display at a couple of expos. Both showings will be in Seattle, first at BrickCon 2014 (October 4 and 5) and early next year at Emerald City ComicCon (March 27-29) — where you can also say hello to The Tick in person (Patrick Warburton will be there, too).
