LEGO will release the new LEGO Batman movie next February. For this reason LEGO has launched a new line inspired by the film. It is really curious to be able to build a set based on a film that has not yet been released and that you can only get an idea about from the trailers. We will review the set 70901 Mr. Freeze Ice Attack that places us in a Gotham City Energy Facility under the attack of Mr. Freeze and in which the dark knight appears to save the guard and to stop the plans of Mr. Freeze. This set, consisting of 201 pieces, contains 3 minifigures, an exosuit and a small decoration. The box contains two numbered bags that allow us to build bit by bit, a small sheet with stickers and some assembly instructions in portrait mode, instead of landscape to which other licenses have accustomed us. These instructions contain the detail of bricks and parts needed in each step, which makes it easier to set up the set.

The three stickers are numbered on both the sticker and the instructions to better identify their placement. The first bag contains the Batman minifig, the security guard, the ice prison and a part of the power plant. This power plant is highly detailed and has a white silo with pipe, a computer, a mug, a pressure meter and an adjustable lever. Finally, the second bag contains the evil Mr. Freeze and his exosuit, which is one of the biggest attractions of this set. The first minifigure we highlight is Batman. It has a printed torso with the batman logo, pectorals and abs. Black pants, an independent bat belt and black cap. His head has two printed expressions: one with the characteristic smile of Batman and another angry one. It also has a band on the top of the head to match the eyes with the mask of the dark knight. The next minifigure is the security guard who is equipped with breathing mask and oxygen tank, and his head offers two expressions: serious and scared. Mr. Freeze is the villain whose main accessory his scuba gear, which is part of his suit that is designed to keep his body at sub-zero temperatures.

Among the most interesting pieces we find the flamethrower that Batman uses, his batarang and the belt that is so characteristic of the character. Some surprising parts include the red macaroni brick, the gray brick that makes the pelvis of the exosuit and the blue fists. Although the most interesting piece is undoubtedly element ID 6166882, which allows us to build mechs in a fast and simple way. This new piece speeds the construction of the exosuit and gives it the stability and rigidity that are necessary to join the arms and legs. This piece, coupled with the two cables of Mr. Freeze's exosuit and the blocks of ice, make this set a very attractive set for part hunters. This is what the exosuit looks like once it is assembled. In addition, Mr. Freeze's stud-shooting freeze gun can be handled by his mech or himself. The ice trap consists mainly of two light blue translucent wall blocks (wall element 2x4x6, iceberg) and two light gray hinge plate 1x2. The hinge formed by these last pieces, allows capturing a miniature inside, usually the security guard.

The rests of the pieces can be stored as spare parts, although we usually recommend that they be used for other constructions that we can create. In my personal opinion the set 70901 Batman Movie Mr. Freeze Ice Atack is one of the most interesting sets to start with the license of LEGO Batman, because it contains enough minifigures to create a small diorama, it provides playability for the little ones (the set offers an age-appropriate build and play experience for ages 7+) and offers numerous interesting pieces. It's the first time I've built a set of DC superheroes and I've been surprised by several pieces and several well-defined details. Specifically I was surprised the head of Batman, since when you put on the mask it fits with the eyes and the minifigure maintains his personality. What has entertained me most is to build Mr. Freeze's exosuit. In comparison to the LEGO Ninjago mechs, in this Batman set we use a new piece which makes up the central part of the exosuit.
