This is an old dinosaur set, from before Lego had the Jurassic Park licence It looks like at least one of next year’s new Lego games will be based on new movie Jurassic World, but there’s no sign of a non-Lego tie-in. There are three major Lego games being released this year (The Lego Movie tie-in, The Hobbit, and Batman 3) so the question is not whether new games will be released next year, but which ones. It’s usually pretty easy to guess by looking at what new licences Lego has picked up recently, and the news that they’re making toys based on the new Jurassic Park film already seems to make a game a no-brainer. But fan site Jurassic World (we assume they thought of the name first) claims to have obtained a marketing which lists a number of tie-ins, and specifically states thgat ‘Lego Jurassic World video game contract in works’. Considering publisher Warner Bros. put out a Lego Marvel video game, despite owning arch-rivals DC Comics, suggest that the lawyers probably won’t have too much trouble organising that one.
Could there be a Lego Minecraft game as well? But despite the memo also mentioning deals with everyone from Mercedes to Kellog’s there’s no hint of a non-Lego video game. Although no-doubt there’ll be the usual low quality smartphone tie-ins. News of a Lego toyline was leaked a few days ago, as well as what is believed to be a new line based around the supercars of Top Gear. Assuming Warner put out at least two new Lego games next year then the best guess for the other one is probably something based on the new Star Wars Rebels cartoon series. Lego The Simpsons would seem even more likely, except for the fact that it hasn’t been announced already. Which may mean that EA, who own the general video game rights to The Simpsons, aren’t being co-operative. Lego also have a range of toys based on Disney princesses, and the new Minecraft toys you see here. They also always put out lower budget portable and smartphone games based on their own properties, such as Ninjago and Legends of Chima.
