This includes product pricing and colour options. The app also has a catalogue, store locator and product offers. According to Target Australia managing director Stuart Machin, the app was developed after spending “weeks in store speaking to customers.” “The app will inspire customers and allow them to shop from our Instagram feed. It will also make finding prices easier, with the built-in product scanner, meaning customers can access price information at every store,” he said. There is only an iOS app available in Australia. The retailer has not announced plans for an Android version yet. The retailer is also building partnerships with Google, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. For example, whenever Target communicates with customers on its Facebook or Instagram feeds they are sent personalised photos of clothes or products they may want to buy. Machin added that it is focusing on bringing its online and in-store experiences closer together. “Improvements have been made recently to our free click and collect service - in trial stores - with reports of reduced wait times for delivery - from days to hours in a majority of cases.
It’s great for say mums, who want to order a larger item, as well as trying to manage the kids while shopping,” he said. According to Machin, it is having success with its assisted ordering kiosks which have been rolled out to 42 stores around Australia. “Team members love helping customers to order products that aren’t ranged in their particular store. It gives them access to the entire Target range, which is proving to be very popular in our country locations.” he said. According to Hewitt, multiple debit and credit cards can be linked to the EMV chip of the ScramCard with multi-factor security protection built-in. "ScramCard gives control back to consumers by allowing them to dictate which payment card they want to use, rather than the merchant dictating which card they can use," he said. Hewitt said that Australia represents a strong market for the company. “While our current operating model is to work with local partners, we do believe there will be a need to eventually open a local office and this will more than likely be during the second half of 2016, when we would be looking for sales and technical resources to accelerate our growth in the region.”He said the startup is planning to work with banking partners throughout Australia and hopes to announce a partnership in early 2016.
