Here's how it works: Anybody can ask a question The best answers are voted up and rise to the top One of the character abilities required to unlock certain areas in Lego Dimensions is Hacking. Using the hacking ability on a hackable item takes you to a small mini-game, the objective of which seems to be to stand on a number of pillars (and take a few second stop unlock them) whilst avoiding the monsters. I can get to and unlock all of the pillars on the normal, blue path around this level, but I can't work out how to possibly get to the last one that's floating on the transparent blue/red squares. The pillar that I'm trying to get to is the one highlighted in the middle of the far-right edge of the screenshot above. The game won't seem to let me step on the transparent squares, or interact with the red monsters in any way (like jumping on them), none of the gameplay buttons seem to do anything (other than the "Jump" which makes monsters turn around, but that doesn't seem to help here).

Just to show that writing down your problem makes you think about things a bit more, and even more importantly, moving from game to laptop makes you look at the portal pad as you look between screens. The answer was literally staring me in the face. The portal on the table in front of had changed from its normal setting of all white pads, and now had three colours on it, moving the Benny minifig from the green pad to a blue or red pad made new walkable squares appear near him ingame in the formerly transparent blue or red outlined areas. The Toy Pad creates some unique game play that's not always intuitive or well-explained. Much of the time it doesn't matter where the toys are placed on the Toy Pad. Up to three toys can be placed in each of the right and left sections at any time, and one in the center. Throughout the game though the player will be called upon to solve puzzles by moving the physical toys around the Toy pad to specific spots and/or in specific sequences. This section is a guide to mastering the Toy Pad based gameplay. Some of the characters have special abilities which are activated using the Toy Pad. When a purple indicator shows up on the screen around Wyldstyle, it likely means that she needs to use the Relic Scanner to reveal a hidden object. Move the Wyldstyle minifigure to the purple flashing section of the Toy Pad (or lift her up and set her down again if she is already on it). When white lightning bolts appear around Gandalf's head, it means his illumination ability is needed. Move the Gandalf minifigure to the white flashing section of the Toy Pad (or lift him up and set him down again if he is already on it).

When an indicator appears around Batman's head, it means his Stealth ability is needed to move through an area undetected.Move the Batman minifigure to the flashing section of the Toy Pad (or lift him up and set him down again if he is already on it). Masterbuilds are special building tasks initiated by Wyldstyle. Masterbuild spots are indicated in the game by a glowing purple circle. To begin a masterbuild move Wyldstyle to the glowing circle in-game, then move the Wyldstyle minifigure to each of three sections of the Toy Pad as indicated by the flashing purple sections of the on-screen Toy Pad diagram. Each of the keystones creates a unique style of play involving the Toy Pad. The shift keystone will be used throughout the game, and is fairly simple. When activated, the keystone opens up three differently colored portals around the area, and lights up the three sections of the Toy Pad with the corresponding colors. When the active character's minifigure is moved to a section of the Toy Pad, the character will teleport to the location of the portal with the corresponding color.

Characters will not automatically teleport when the Keystone is activated - the minifigures must be physically moved (or lifted and reset in the same position) for the character to teleport. The Chroma Keystone creates three pads with a different color of paint on each. When a character comes into contact with the paint, they take on that color. Each color may only be used by one character at a time. Once a character has taken on a color, their minifigure needs to be moved to the correct section of the Toy Pad. When all three sections of the Toy Pad have the correct color on them, the puzzle is solved. The solutions to the puzzles (which color needs to be on which section of the Toy Pad) are usually found in the environment somewhere, but are not always obvious. The Elemental Keystone gives characters the abilities to spray fire, water, electricity, and whatever one sprays (other than water) to make things grow (fertilizer?). Which ability a character receives depends on which section of the Toy Pad their minifigure is placed on.

The red section of the Toy Pad gives the fire ability, the dark blue section gives the water ability, the light blue section gives the electricity ability, and the green section the plant growing ability. Only three of these options will be available at any one time. Place the active character on the desired section of the Toy Pad, then use the reticule to aim at a target, then press the correct controller button to spray at the target. The scale keystone changes a character's size - either growing them or shrinking them. When the Keystone is activated, the Toy Pad will have an orange, a green, and a clear section. Place the character on orange to shrink them, on green to super-size them, and on clear to bring them to their normal height. Most Shift Keystone puzzles will involve either shrinking the character and having them crawl through a tube, or having them stand under something, such as a missing piece to a crawl tube, and then super-size to push the piece up into place. The Locate Keystone summons items from other dimensions, and is probably the easiest keystone to to use.
