Toddler Time is the first and third Thursday of each month January - October; some months may have adjusted dates due to other scheduled museum events. This program allows children listen to a classic railroad story, create a craft, enjoy playtime at Choo Choo Blue Kids Zone and a ride on the indoor train carousel – all included with paid admission. Recommended for ages 2-5. Please note that there is no Toddler Time scheduled for May 2, 2012. All children programs begin promptly on time. Visitors receive half off regular admission rates the first Tuesday of every month at the B&O Railroad Museum. All aboard for the most important American railroad collection in the world! Ever wonder how locomotives and rail cars are moved in and out of the historic 1884 Roundhouse? Watch Museum staff operate the 60 foot wooden turntable to move an historic rail car. Children and families are invited to join the ladies of the Maine Camp Hospital Association for a Civil War era tea party.
Enjoy tea and snacks that were common in that period. Learn about social and home front issues and the work that was done for wounded soldiers by these ladies during the War. This program does not require reservations and is recommended for families with young children. Pirate Days allow young adventurers the opportunity to engage in STEAM education activities centered around exploration and travel. Adventurers learn how the railroad provided people the opportunity to travel and explore America. The family-friendly show features model railroad manufacturers, model and toy train vendors, operating train layouts and interactive toy train displays in addition to the museum's other world class exhibits.
