The track supplied with this set is the absolute minimum required though, so we felt we had to buy two additional boxes of track LEGO City 7499: Flexible Tracks and LEGO City 7895: Train Tracks to make it interesting and flexible enough from the start. We have since added a lot more track including a crossover piece, which is not made by Lego.I was concerned by the idea that this set takes 9 AAA batteries, and some of the reviews here suggest that only certain batteries work. I decided to try Amazon's rechargeable batteries which are rated at 1.2V instead of 1.5V for disposable alkalines.
