The Disney Castle Reviews - page 2Most husbands are forced to keep their hobbies to the garden shed. But when Gerry Burrows decided to build a vast castle made from Lego, he had to think a little bigger - so he asked his wife for an entire room of their Pennsylvania house.Nine months later, the Lego obsessive has almost finished his astonishing 540-square foot creation - complete with a life-size model of the couple's wedding day as a tribute to his patient wife, Susanne. Labour of love: Gerry Burrows stands next to his Garrison of Moriah, which he constructed out of Lego in the basement of his house in Limerick, Pennsylvania, using 250,000 bricks Called the Garrison of Moriah, the 28ft long, nine-feet high castle is made up of 250,000 bricks and is inspired by Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.Mr Burrows said he always loved Lego as a child but stopped building when he went to high school, in a period Lego fans refer to as the 'Dark Ages'. Ten years later, as he and his wife prepared to buy their first house, Mr Burrows rediscovered his dusty bricks in the attic - and his love was rekindled.

He told Wired: 'I started thinking how I now have the money and space to actually build the things I wanted to build; sister to rampage through my Lego creations.' Hand-built tribute: Gerry Andrews finished off his creation with a tribute to his wife, Susanne - a life-size Lego model of the couple on their wedding day So he went to his real estate agent - and his wife - with an unusual request: a Lego room. After they moved in, Mr Burrows took a week off work to lay the foundations for his fantastical creation. He said he rarely planned anything in advance, but based his designs on his love of sci-fi and fantasy novels as he went along. He said: 'Nothing ever touched paper or computer. But as I would start to build and focus on individual structures I would spend time thinking of the specific structures' design. As I built I would get inspiration on cool directions to take.' Painstaking work: The Garrison of Moriah draws inspiration from Star Wars. It takes up a room measuring 540 square feet and is inhabited by hundreds of tiny Lego people
