As a meteor fell from the sky in Russia, it seems like almost everyone in the country had a camera on their car’s dashboard to capture the dramatic scene.In North America, where the only dashboard cameras are on law enforcement vehicles, it’s a little strange to think of every vehicle constantly recording the most dull of commutes. Not so, in Russia. The dashboard camera craze has really taken off in the past couple of years, but for the dullest of reasons: Insurance. According to Radio Free Europe, the craze began as the cost of cameras dipped and citizens began fighting back against corrupt traffic cops. They quickly also proved their use in proving fault in an accident and capturing viral videos. As with everything else, though, what started as a personal safety fad began to produce local celebrities.
There are now television shows and entire websites dedicated to capturing the best — and even reviewing — dashboard cam videos from across the country. So when a massive meteor swept across the Russian sky, everyone’s cameras were already rolling. Sometimes, though, good old fashioned security cameras capture the best video. Pay 5,000 studs to unlock it and then use it to crash through the silver boulders blocking the archway on the left. This takes you into the next level. This is another vehicle level, similar to Motorbike Mayhem in Crystal Skull Part 1 and Rainforest Rumble in Part 2. There are 3 waves of enemy vehicles that you must destroy using the available vehicles. As before, enemies are indicated by round icons at the top of the screen and red triangles over the vehicles themselves. Red triangles at the edges of the screen point to the nearest off-screen enemy. There are also several Jeeps without red triangles that drive around shooting at you. You can wreck them if you want to, but this isn't necessary to complete the level, and they respawn every time. You start in the Car Boat. It's a bit slow and clunky, but its useful for driving through deep water. Use it to get the studs near the waterfall just upstream from the start. There are also some purple studs, along with a few others, hidden behind the waterfall on the left side of the map. Several clusters of studs, including a few purple ones can also be found in the open on the left side of the map, in the top left corner, and along the left cliff edge.
There are also studs on the roads that run behind each waterfall and along the right side of the map. Avoid the big waterfall and the cliff edge that runs along the bottom edge of the map. Once you've gathered the studs in the water, you can switch vehicles if you like. There are 2 Jeeps with mounted machine guns. One is parked just ahead of the starting position. The other is near the bottom center of the map, to the right of the big logs spanning the river. The Jeeps are fast and maneuverable. They can drive through the shallow water where the roads cross the river and, unlike the boat, they can shoot. Just press the Attack button to fire. There are orange, green and blue vehicle powerups scattered throughout the level. As before, the green ones let you jump your vehicle, and the blue ones power up the Jeep's mounted gun. The orange ones provide a speed boost and can also help you do more damage when you ram into enemies from the side or behind. To use a power-up, drive through it and then press the button indicated on screen to activate the power.
Power-ups only last for a little while but reappear in the same locations each time. The first wave of enemies consists of 4 Jungle Jeeps with guns. They move clockwise around the starting area. You can chase them and try to run them off the road, but the easiest way to destroy them is to drive counter-clockwise along the same path and ram them head-on. The second group contains 2 Jungle Jeeps and 2 Car Boats. You can use the same tactics as for the first wave. Or, if you're using the Jeep with the mounted gun, pick up any of the blue weapon powerups and quickly blast your target to smithereens. The third wave has a regular Car Boat and 2 armored Car Boats with mounted guns. They appear at various points in the river. At this stage, you can gain control of your own Car Boat with a mounted gun. Look for it driving around near the starting area, move in close and press Free Tag to switch vehicles. Now grab the orange powerup on the left side of the river and start ramming into the enemy boats.
