Beginning September 1, you’ll be able to pick up the 1869-piece Lego Tumbler kit for a cool $199. It comes with exclusive Batman and Health Ledger Joker minifigs, a stats plaque for the real-life/full-size Tumbler, and Lego’s typical attention to detail. There are adjustable winglets above each rear wheel, a fully spec’d interior, and the correct dualie rear axle.

The only misstep: The Tumbler’s jet exhaust does not actually spit fire, although we’re sure some enterprising customizer can fix that for you. The vehicle’s size also impresses, since it measures a hefty 15 inches long, 9 inches wide, and stands just over 5 inches tall. While our dreams of acquiring a real-life Tumbler—several of them were built for filming—might never come to fruition, this kit is a far more affordable and megasweet backup plan. It joins other recent lust-inducing Lego kits like the classic Mini Cooper, Volkswagen T1 camper van, and gigantic Mercedes Unimog on our perpetual gift wish list. There is a fact sheet included about the vehicle from the movies, plus two mini-figures - of Batman and the Heath Ledger version of The Joker. It's not the first time that a Batmobile has appeared as part of Lego's Ultimate Collectors' Series. It released a collector's edition of a comic book-inspired Batmobile in 2006. That was far cheaper than the Tumbler set though, at around £50.If the full version is too much for you to handle, Lego has a Tumbler Chase set available as part of its DC Comics Super Heroes range for around £40. But, to be honest, it's nowhere near as cool as the monster it is about to unleash.READ: What did you do Ray? The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man attacks our Lego Ghostbusters set

LEGO rolls out 'Dark Knight' Tumbler for Comic-ConBatman's most intimidating movie vehicle hits stores in September. Why so serious? Because Batman's most intimidating Batmobile ever is getting the LEGO treatment.

A LEGO Tumbler, the Caped Crusader's black armored vehicle of choice in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight movie trilogy, will be on display at Comic-Con this week beginning Wednesday. Following the pop-culture convention, which runs through July 27, the Tumbler toy (1,869 pieces, $199) goes on sale at LEGO stores and shop. in September.Measuring 15 inches tall and 9 inches wide, the LEGO Tumbler has an armored exterior, adjustable wings, a detailed interior (with a console screen that reads "INTIMIDATE") and oversized rubber-tread tires. It also comes with a fact sheet about the vehicle from the movies. If you're into character mini-figures, the stars of the set are a Christian Bale-styled Batman and the Joker, the first time Heath Ledger's The Dark Knight take on the villain has appeared in LEGO form.<!--iframe-->We recently received a copy of LEGO’s exclusive addition to their Superhero line, The Tumbler. Official piece count is listed as 1869 elements. The actual model measures nearly 16 inches long, over 9 inches wide, over 5 inches high and weighs in at just over 4 and half pounds.

The thing is huge! It currently retails at 199.99 USD. – It is very accurate to the original vehicle. The details, inside and out, are very good. The cockpit area is full of minute detail and the stickers really make the control panels come alive. The used of wedge plates, tiles, hinges, bar connections and ball joints work really well together to create the unique shape which is crucial to the Tumbler. – There are lots of good parts and a fair number of fairly unique pieces. The huge rear wheels are cool and the two front wheels are currently only available in this set, I believe. – The build is challenging and the there are some unusual techniques that were used to achieve the proper angles. – It is a very good-looking model…quite an eye-catcher actually. – The parts are mostly black and grey. No surprise here as those are the colors with which Batman prefers to work. However is makes for a pretty monotone parts pack, if you are buying it for the pieces.

– Its part-to-price ration is 10.7 cents per piece which is on the high end of average. So while this set is not over-priced, it’s not a bargain either. – The building experience was rather monotonous as every detail has a mirror image on the other side of the vehicle. So you build a detail and then you build it again but reversed. I don’t see how LEGO could have avoided that but it did get rather boring about half way through. – The lack of features left me feeling a bit flat. While it is a gorgeous model, as I mentioned earlier, it doesn’t do anything. Well, that is not entirely accurate. The rook panels lift off so you can access the cockpit, you can adjust the various wing pieces and the gear shift moves. But other than that, nothing. I have built other sets this size and the good ones have some working features. This is really just a beauty queen, designed to sit on a shelf. The set is big and beautiful. I really like how it looks. If you want an accurate and impressive Tumbler made from LEGO, this is the set for you.
