Leading up to the fall release of “Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham,” the Dark Knight is getting a block-style makeover for the variant cover of “Detective Comics” No. 36. The issue, set for November release, will be one of several Lego-themed variant covers highlighting the iterations of famous characters from the DC stable to appear in the game. Aquaman, Batgirl, Wonder Woman and Catwoman, among several others, will be treated to the temporary makeover. The “Lego Batman” games have always put a lighter spin on a character that’s traditionally as grim and gritty as they come, but the upcoming third game in the series, “Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham” will add a bit of retro fun. Players of the game, which will be available later this year for all systems, will get to play a level of the 1960s “Batman” series, with Adam West himself providing the voice of Batman. Additionally, gamers will also be able to play as the entire ’60s cast, including Robin, the Boy Wonder.

They’re just a few of the 150 playable characters in the new game. And in case you’re wondering, yes, Lego Batman will dance the Batusi. “Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham” will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, 3DS, Vita and PC. — Gina McIntyre and Patrick Day ‘Batman v. Have you ever noticed how baby food jars are the EXACT same shape as LEGO heads?! Just draw on the faces and paint the jars! What a fun little project! Turns out that the fine folks over at DC Comics are a bunch of blockheads. No, I’m not calling them stupid, you dummy; rather, they’re huge fans of LEGO and they’re wearing their love of interlocking bricks on their sleeve this fall with a series of LEGO-inspired covers in support of LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. While you’ll have to wait until November to get your hands on these, we have an exclusive sneak preview of the covers for The Flash #36 and Green Lantern #36. This is just the latest in a string of monthly themed variant covers for DC Comics. January saw a slew of Scribblenauts-inspired covers, followed by a very Steampunk February, and a Robot Chicken takeover in March. For April, DC went MAD for Alfred E. Neuman’s birthday, celebrated the sixties with groovy Mike Allred Batman ’66-style art in May, and dropped some Bombshells in June.
