When Supergirl returns to television for its second season, the Girl of Steel will be joining three other Greg Berlanti produced shows (Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow), on The CW. Despite a generally well-received first season, Supergirl‘s ratings dwindled on CBS after its strong opening. The CW is hoping that Supergirl will fit better alongside the network’s other DC heroes, and has been pulling out all the stops to make sure excitement for the Girl of Steel’s sophomore run is as high as possible. By now, almost everyone knows that Melissa Benoist (who plays Kara Danvers aka Supergirl) will be joined this season by Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf), who signed on for a guest stint as Clark Kent aka Superman. But Superman joining the fold is not the only exciting development for Supergirl‘s second season. The move to The CW also meant moving production to Vancouver, which is where Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow shoot their episodes. This made possible a massive four-way crossover, that is currently in production, and will feature the Dominators as the main villain.

But while the highly anticipated crossover, as well as a musical duo with The Flash, is still a few episodes away, fans will have to wait no time at all to see Superman and Supergirl team up. Tyler Hoechlin’s presence as Superman will be felt right away, as he is slated to appear in the first two episodes of the second season. And while we already received the synopsis for the first episode, the second episode’s plot has remained a mystery. The CW has just released the synopsis for the second episode of Supergirl‘s sophomore season, titled ‘The Last Children of Krypton’. You can read the full synopsis below: “IAN GOMEZ STARS AS SNAPPER CARR — CADMUS attacks National City with a kryptonite powered villain who ends up seriously hurting Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). Superman (guest star Tyler Hoechlin) blames Hank (David Harewood) because the kryptonite was stolen from the DEO. Meanwhile, Kara’s first day at her new job doesn’t go as planned after she meets her new boss, Snapper Carr (guest star Ian Gomez).

Glen Winter directed the episode written by Robert Rovner & Caitlin Parrish (#202). It was revealed over the summer that Cadmus would play a large antagonistic role this season, and from the look of the synopsis, their villainy will be felt very early on in Supergirl‘s sophomore outing. What is more interesting, though, is the kryptonite powered villain who is sent to attack National City. It was reported this summer that long-time Superman villain, Metallo, would be appearing in Supergirl‘s second season. John Corben aka Metallo is well known as a cyborg with a kryponite power source, so all signs point to seeing him do battle with the last children of Krypton very early on. While not quite as exciting as learning that we may see Metallo, it also looks like Kara will have to face a new work dynamic, as she meets her new boss, Snapper Carr (played by Cougar Town‘s Ian Gomez). It was reported a few months ago that Snapper Carr would be taking over at CatCo as the new Editor-in-Chief.

With Supergirl moving its production from Los Angeles to Vancouver, we will be seeing less of Calista Flockhart’s Cat Grant, who is only scheduled to appear in a few episodes this season. And with Snapper Carr showing up in the second episode, it looks like Grant may be getting phased out quickly. The Flash season 3 will premiere Tuesday October 4th at 8pm on The CW, Arrow season 5 will premiere in the same timeslot on Wednesday October 5th, Supergirl season 2 on Monday October 10th, and Legends of Tomorrow season 2 on Thursday October 13th.Batman V Superman Casting Hints At Possibility Of Metallo For Future DC Comics Films Three years after Superman was pitted against General Zod in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is introducing two more of the Kryptonian’s rogues into the DC Extended Universe. Lex Luthor is serving as the movie’s main antagonist, while Doomsday will be unleashed at some point as the primary physical threat. Now a new cast member has been revealed that could set up a future appearance from another adversary: Emmet Vale, aka the creator of Metallo, the Kryptonite-hearted cyborg.

Originally listed on IMDB, CinemaBlend has learned that actor Ralph Lister is indeed playing Emmet Vale. Lister’s other credits include Oz, the Great and Powerful, Beverlywood, Hellsing Ultimate and Lucky Jay, and he has also made a name for himself as an audiobook narrator. While Vale will presumably be a minor character in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, it does set up interesting possibilities for Superman’s cinematic future. Emmet Vale (originally just known as Professor Vale) was a robotics scientist whose interest with aliens paid off when he learned about Kal-El’s arrival on Earth. Years later, he found the Kryptonian ship, and after incorrectly translating Jor-El’s message, believed Superman was the first of more alien invaders coming to conquer Earth. Vale soon began studying the Man of Steel, and eventually learned about Kryptonite’s harmful effects. After finding John Corben, he took the injured criminal’s brain and placed it in a robotic body powered by Kryptonite, turning Corben into Metallo.

Vale wanted to use Metallo as a weapon against Superman, and while he got his wish, his creation killed him soon after. You can take a look at Ralph Lister, and the good professor he'll be playing, in the comparison below: Assuming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s version of Vale retains the scientific background, I’m assuming he’ll be an employee at LexCorp, and may even assist Lex Luthor in his more secretive experiments. Although there are reports that Man of Steel 2 is in development, it hasn’t been given a release date yet. With the Man of Steel being kept busy in the meantime with both Justice League movies, there's plenty of time to develop the second solo effort for the last son of Krypton. That said, Metallo would certainly make a good villain for said sequel if the DCEU goes in that direction. Aside from the super strength and speed his robot body grants him, that Kryptonite heart obviously gives Metallo an advantage over Superman. Of course, Metallo isn’t the smartest cookie in the box, so if he is eventually used, he’d be better suited as a physical/supporting threat assisting the brains that are hatching the grand scheme of whatever film he's a part of.
