Bruce Wayne also returns in animated LEGO form next year in The LEGO Batman Movie, with Will Arnett reprising his voice role as LEGO Batman from The LEGO Movie and the actor’s Arrested Development costar, Michael Cera, stepping in to provide the voice for LEGO Dick Grayson/Robin.

The trailers for The LEGO Batman Movie – written by Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and directed by Chris McKay (the animation supervisor for The LEGO Movie) – have confirmed that the movie revolves around Batman’s efforts to give up his lone crime-fighter act, at the behest of his loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth (Ralph Fiennes), and become more of a “team player”. That means Batman must not only learn to be a mentor and father to his adopted son, Dick Grayson, but also work with new Gotham City Police Commissioner, Barbara Gordon (Rosario Dawson). In case any fans were concerned that LEGO Barbara wouldn’t be appearing in costume as her superhero counterpart, Batgirl, in The LEGO Batman Movie, the new poster for the film (released by Warner Bros. Animation) confirms that Barbara dons her own cape and cowl in the animated movie. Batgirl, Batman and Robin are joined by several other LEGO-ized versions of famous DC Comics supeheroes and supervillains alike in said new one-sheet – which you can check out for yourself, below:

This new The LEGO Batman Movie poster features several of the Caped Crusader’s Justice League teammates (Wonder Woman, Superman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Martian Manhunter and even Hawkman), all of whom are expected to make cameos in the animated film. Zach Galifianakis as the LEGO Joker appears to serve as the primary villain in the movie, but as Batman tells him during the film “I like to fight around” – and the newest poster likewise features many additional classic Bat-foes; including Harley Quinn, The Riddler, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, Bane, Scarcrow and even one of the Mutants from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns comic book, as well as Two-Face (who yes, is modeled in the likeness of now-confirmed voice actor Billy Dee Williams). McKay has promised that there will be various DC Comics-related Easter Eggs scattered “throughout” The LEGO Batman Movie and this poster is a testament to that. It’s worth reiterating that the focus of the film will be on Batman’s efforts (or, rather, Alfred forcing him) to piece together a crime-fighting family for himself, so this particular superhero movie shouldn’t feel overstuffed with characters – as a few live-action superhero films before it have.
