Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today released the exciting new key art for LEGO® Batman™...Mortal Kombat X launched back in April of last year to positive reviews, if you ignore the PC version, with some considering the title to be a refreshing addition to the franchise. This was thanks to the new 'Variation' system that gave each fighter 3 distinct combat styles, in essence tripling the number of Kombatants available. Combining this with a more developed online offering, the game has proven the franchise can still evolve with the times. However, from day 1, the additional content the game offered was questionable at best. With micro-transactions like the Easy Fatalities removing the work needed to memorize your favorite fighter's finishing move code, a feat that used to be impressive in online matches, to the Goro Pack that was advertised even on the character select screen. Then there was the Unlock all Krypt items DLC, but lets not talk about that. The content to follow did help to improve overall image of the game's DLC offerings, with guest characters like the Predator and Jason Voorhees as well as some free Klassic Fatalities for nostalgia's sake.

Added with this is the incoming Kombat Pack 2, containing a combination character of the fan-favorite cyborg characters (Tri-borg) and the Xenomorph, finally offering us a chance to have a proper Alien vs. Predator battle. With these additions you could consider the game redeemed of its past misgivings. If there is one thing I have learned over the years it is to avoid buying a NetherRealm game at launch. This is because they have a habit of releasing extra fighters and skins, followed by a complete edition after they're all released about a year later that saves you about half the total cost. Now there is nothing wrong about that, many games do similar, it gives someone who wants to buy the title long after the initial launch a more enticing package. However this is something entirely different. As a earlier image showed MK XL is stated to have every skin. Yet unless you pre-order the game you will not receive this 'Cosplay' pack. So that statement right there is a lie. The question is where does it stop?

Could we also possibly be receiving a third Kombat Pack down the line? Then there is the whole other issue with this situation. Offering pre-order bonuses on what is meant to be the complete edition of an already released game. While it is possible we will be receiving this pack at a later date if you do not pre-order, there is still something definitively wrong with loading pre-order incentives onto a package like this.Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of NetherRealm and love both the MK series & Injustice: Gods Among Us (I'm hardly a pro at either though). I'll admit I'm probably going to buy this as well. But when a stunt like this gets pulled, it has to be called out. After all where might this lead? Could we see more substantial DLC be locked out of 'Complete' editions in the future? In Mortal Kombat's case, a extra fighter perhaps? Admittedly it may not be their fault, often moves like this can be attributed to the publisher, which in this case is Warner Bros., making them possibly the real ones to point the finger at.

We'll just have to see if anything gets tacked on to the, likely soon to announced, Batman: Arkham Knight 'Complete' edition. In a industry where DLC and Package versions are becoming more and more of a common thing for games. It's worrying to say the least when something like this happens, as unless there is a sizeable backlash, it could lead to other companies following suit. Lets just hope EA doesn't get the same idea. What do you think? Could this become a new industry standard? Definitely this is the new 'Season Pass' trend Probably, these things always do No, most wouldn't take this step God I hope not Guess I'll just have to pre-orderSearch for a game's System Requirements LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham System Requirements Can my computer run LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Minimum Requirements Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD dual core CPU WindowsXP SP3, Windows Vista/7/8 with latest service packs and updates installed
