Since November 12, 2015, the Xbox One has featured a long list of backwards compatible Xbox 360 games. And that list just keeps growing — so much that we wanted to make sure you’re kept up-to-date on the newest games patched for compatibility. Below you’ll find all the disc-based and digital games that function on both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Not originally a feature of the Xbox One, backwards compatibility became a feature after being patched into a new dashboard update. None of your Xbox 360 games will work on Xbox One without connecting to the internet and downloading an update, so make sure you’re active and online before attempting to play any of these games.

If you own a game digitally, just check out the My Games tab on the dashboard, where previous-gen games can be re-downloaded for free on the Xbox One. More games are coming soon, so be sure to keep checking back as they’re revealed. Don’t forget to vote on the Xbox 360 games you want added to the backwards compatible list. The backward compatibility functionality is currently available to those in the Xbox Preview Program and will be rolling out to all users in the fall. We take a quick look at how it works and include the current Xbox one Backward Compatibility list which we will update as more games are added to the program. The process is really easy. Any Xbox 360 games that you already own that are backward compatible will appear in the “Ready to Install” section on your Xbox One. If you have a physical disc for a backwards compatible game, simply insert the disc into your Xbox One and it will begin a download of the game, and once it is installed you’ll be able to play – and like on the Xbox 360, you’ll need to keep your disc in the Xbox One.Xbox One’s backward compatibility lets you keep your game saves

When trying to form a party using the Xbox One party app, those playing Xbox 360 games will not be able to connect to the party. Hopefully this is something that Xbox will fix in the future!TIP: Press the View and Menu button on your Xbox One controller to simulate the Xbox button and bring up the Xbox 360 menu when playing an Xbox 360 game, pressing the Xbox button will take you to your Xbox One home screen.
