It seems LEGO Batman is pretty much unstoppable at this point. In celebration of the movie’s release on Feb. 10, The Big Bang Theory is airing a series of promos and a LEGO version of the show’s opening sequence during its syndication run this week. The stars of the CBS comedy also get the LEGO treatment in two promos for the show: The first sees the LEGO superhero kicked out of Sheldon’s chair in the ultimate Sheldon/Batman showdown. “All these nerds yelling at me! What is the meaning of this?” demands the Caped Crusader as the others try to stop him from sitting in Sheldon’s seat, knowing they’re about to endure his hyper-specific explanation for loving that chair. The second spot shows the Dark Knight Minifigure confused to find himself at the apartment rather than at a press conference for the movie — though he gets why the gang would want to hang out with him: “I’m super interesting,” he modestly acknowledges. The custom open follows the normal format until the last moment when the cast is revealed in LEGO form — they even have LEGO Chinese takeout boxes!

'Suicide Squad' [Credit: Warner Bros.]At one point towards the end of The Lego Batman Movie, Batman notes that "using criminals to fight criminals is a dumb idea" — a very obvious dig at #SuicideSquad, and the hearty criticism it came in for upon release. As it turns out, though, the film's director, Chris McKay, had two excellent reasons for including the gag in the final cut: It was funny and they were able to get away with it. Indeed, as he recently revealed to Huffington Post, the joke wasn't even planned:“I can’t remember if that was one we really had to run up the flagpole or not, or just the executives who were on the movie saw it and were OK with it, but that was just us kind of riffing in a voice booth... It was me [writer] Jared Stern and Will Arnett. It was one of those things where we gave Will an idea, and he took it and made it his own. I love working with him. He’s amazing, but being able to get away with stuff I think is kind of one of the things we do well in all of the Lego movies.
You feel like you’re sort of getting away with it."And, in a world of carefully focus-grouped punchlines and market-researched-to-death carpool karaokes, there's something rather sweet about the idea of McKay, Stern and Arnett just goofing around in a voice booth, and then seeing how long they could get away with gently tweaking the nose of Warner Bros.Plus, the gag is pretty funny.What do you think, though?
