Simon (Corbet) wakes up on a train as it pulls into Paris; he's just graduated from college and is planning to take some time out, staying with a friend of his mother's friend. Lonely after a breakup with his girlfriend, Simon succumbs to paid company and employs the services of prostitute Victoria/Noura (Diop), who has recently escaped a violent husband. With both hurting, there's an instant connection between them. This could be love, but then you remember the title of the movie... The theme of disconnect works its way through Simon Killer. Corbet's Simon talks a lot about feelings - he misses his girlfriend and wants reconciliation - but there's a sense that he feels nothing. He walks around museums and galleries with his earphones in; there's an over reliance on internet porn; when he tries to call his ex, he can never reach her; and his French isn't brilliant so there's the language barrier, which halts the wooing process when he tries to follow Constance Rousseau home like a stray.
Campos visualises this detachment with some odd framing, concentrating on midriffs and profiles. This is fine but in mimicking the style of the Belgian Dardenne Brothers (The Child, Lorna's Silence) or Gasper Noe (Enter The Void, Irreversible), the lengthy shots of the back of Corbet's head as he makes his way through Parisian streets is irritating and doesn't make for exciting visuals - we're in the middle of Paris and all Campos can find is the back of Corbet's head? The different approach to the hooker-with-a-heart story is welcome but after scripting two very interesting characters and a host of story possibilities, Simon Killer plateaus and can't find enough for Simon and Noura to do. With the movie stuck in a holding pattern, Campos has the characters engage in some spontaneous dancing but he does treat us to some cracking tunes. Co-written by Campos, Diop and Corbet, it's the latter's icy cold portrayal of this psychopath that garners the attention. Simon is a psychopath, but he's not what we expect - he's also weak, needy and cowardly and it's a refreshing take.
There's a lot to like here but it's just a shame it runs out of steam. In realtà non è nemmeno la prima volta che l'omino Lego di Batman è . Ma andiamo con bat-ordine: com'è questa pellicola del 2017? Dopo l'ennesimo fallimento, ferito nei sentimenti, il organizza il più grande attacco a Gotham City. E così, da una prigione spazio-temporale, libera del cinema, della letteratura e della mitologia. Toccherà a Batman rimettere le cose a posto, contando sull'aiuto di Alfred, Robin e Batgirl. Io amo le opere dove viene sviscerata la personalità di Batman, che è complessa quanto squadrata. Lego Batman - il film ha dalla sua proprio questo: e paradossalmente è l'unico film su Batman e parlare di tale argomento in questa misura. La solitudine dell'Uomo Pipistrello, la sua incapacità di creare qualcosa di stabile; ma anche la sua (di certo non può essere normale un tizio che gira vestito in quel modo...), il suo fascismo e soprattutto il suo rapporto con. Battute e riferimenti a raffica sulla serie del '66, sui film degli anni '90, sulla trilogia di Nolan, su BatmanVSuperman e frecciatine a Suicide Squad. Preso bonariamente in giro anche il mondo Marvel. Ma non solo: Lego Batman è un film : è un film su Batman esattamente come tutti gli altri che lo precedono e come quelli che seguiranno; è un'opera su Batman come il telefilm e il cartoon passati sui nostri schermi. Le citazioni sono molteplici (dallo spray squalo-repellente degli anni '60 ai Superamici), così come molteplici sono i calci bassi dati al politically correct, usando come mezzo i popolari mattoncini Lego per rendere al meglio la simpatia del progetto. In sostanza: un film per tutti ma che potrà essere compreso in tutti i suoi livelli di lettura solo da chi è grande, e solo da chi è .A quando un sequel? Claudio Santamaria si presta nuovamente a doppiare Batman, dopo aver donato la voce roca all'Uomo Pipistrello nella trilogia di Nolan e all'Omino Pipistrello in The Lego Movie.
Robin ha invece la voce del giovane , che rende perfettamente la vivacità positiva del personaggio. è una sardagnola Batgirl, il che può anche stonare (ajò, dirà a un certo punto...), ma ci si abitua subito. Ma torniamo appunto a ciò che vi dicevo a inizio articolo: non è questo il primo film Lego basato sulle avventure del giustiziere di Gotham e i suoi amici supereroi. Difatti, nel 2013 esce in direct-to-video LEGO Batman: il film - i Supereroi DC riuniti, (in Italia ha in parte lo stesso titolo del nuovo film!), un'opera in 67 minuti che anticipa di fatto (giocando tra l'altro in casa) l'idea del grande melting pot con Batman e nemici vari ed eventuali. Il film, diretto da Jon Burton, era ispirato al videogioco Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes e poteva vantare nella sua soundtrack anche i famosi brani di Elfman e Williams (rispettivamente gli iconici temi musicali di Batman e Superman). Questo titolo , curiosamente abbinato a The Lego Movie (di cui però solo The Lego Batman Movie del 2017 è il vero collegamento).
