Buy a movie on disc and download a digital copy for free. The service will launch tomorrow, coinciding with the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 on DVD and Blu-ray, which will the headline the deal. 30 other titles will be included at launch, but Tesco's intending to crank that up to 3000 titles over the next 12 months. It's intending to make the majority of new releases available through the scheme as they get released.
To qualify for the free digital copy you have to buy the DVD or Blu-ray from a Tesco store or Tesco online and be a Clubcard member. If you ever shop at Tesco you're probably a Clubcard-holder already, but if not it's free -- it just tracks everything you purchase and where you buy it from, like any other loyalty card program. with free digital copies. It might be enough to make me pick Tesco over the others if they're all the same price; the digital copies included with some of the Blu-rays I've bought over the years have come in handy for throwing on the iPad for flights and travelling.
