A Step Up for the LEGO Franchise When I was a kid, there was a certain magic to LEGO's. You could build what was on the box, or you could go off in your own direction and make whatever came to mind. The LEGO brand of video games has done a great job of capturing that magic for all ages. It doesn't hurt that they are typically linked to popular IPs like Star Wars, and Indiana Jones. The games themselves have generally followed a similar formula of comic renderings of classic stories, with one exception, LEGO Batman. LEGO Batman was the only version of the game to offer a unique story. The sequel to that game will take innovation a step further and try and breathe life into a franchise that some see as formulaic. The beauty of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is the fact that the caped crusader is not alone, and we don't mean the inclusion of Robin. Superman headlines an all star class of guest stars that are all playable once unlocked. Characters included beside Superman will feature Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Bane, Batgirl, Bizarro, Black Adam, Black Manta, Brainiac, Captain Cold, Catwoman, Cyborg, Flash, and many other heroes and villains each with their own unique special abilities.

This feature alone adds a good deal of mileage to the game in terms of replay value. Gone are the stages of games prior, and instead we will be treated to an open world sandbox to play in. This seems to be a tip of the hat to Rockstar's behemoth title that everyone is buzzing about. Even with the open world format there will be several areas for players to explore, including Arkham Asylum, the Batcave, Gotham Cities sewer system, Ace Chemicals, Wayne Tower, Metropolis, and the Watch Tower. To make exploration more fun, Batman and company will also have several ways in which to explore each environment. Get ready to drive the Batmobile, Joker's Helicopter, Catwoman's Catcycle, the Batwing, and Harley Quinn's Hammer Truck, to name a few. Making the game open world adds to the magic that we mentioned earlier. Capitalizing on the fun of multiple characters and open world gaming, LEGO Batman 2 is also bucking the trend of the comical, yet limited, grunting the characters have done in the past;

instead, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes will feature voice acting. Gone is the comical grunting of LEGO games past, as every character will have a voice, some of which you might recognize from the various popular animated series. So, in closing, as a fan of either Batman, LEGO, or both, it looks like LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes will have a lot to offer.
