This is a list of Lego City sets (also previously known as Legoland, Lego Town and Lego World City). A very small subtheme of Town, Houses incorporated older sets of houses and buildings, like 6592 Vacation Hideaway into a new subtheme. However, the theme was the only 1991 subtheme not to continue another year. Launch Command was released in 1995 as a Lego Town subtheme. It was the first dedicated Lego theme that attempted to depict real-life contemporary efforts of space exploration. Prior to the theme's official launch in 1995, two sets were released in preceding years that are considered predecessors to the theme. Space Shuttle Launch, released in 1990, featured NASA logo, unlike subsequent releases. Shuttle Launching Crew, released in 1992, featured the characteristic "V" pattern seen on Launch Command sets released in 1995. The two shuttles released in 1995 were in fact labeled "2" and "3", leading one to believe that shuttle 1 was contained in 6346 Shuttle Launching Crew.

Space Port was released four years after Launch Command and is often seen as a continuation of that theme due to its similar logo and status as a Lego Town Subtheme. Space Port took the Launch Command concept and expanded upon it into new areas such as astronaut training and scientific experiments. The Space Port theme took a slightly less realistic approach to set design compared to Launch command, and some sets featured special Light & Sound bricks to enhance playability. Space (City) is the third attempt at depicting contemporary efforts in space. The theme was preceded by Shuttle Adventure, which was released in 2010 under the Lego Exclusives line to coincide with the retirement of the Space Shuttle. The set proved to be extremely popular among children and was re-released in 2011 as Shuttle Expedition with several re-designs to improve playability. Both of these sets as well as all sets in the Space theme feature a logo inspired by the Lego Classic Space logo. I don’t even buy the good ones. I buy the ones that are $1 at the checkout of the hardware store right next to the batteries and air fresheners. The upside to this arrangement is the chocolates always have a hint of pine-fresh scent.I’ve given my 2 nieces an Advent Calendar every year since they were born. This has been going on for the past 20 years or so. And every year it’s been a $1 calendar. In my defence, I always spend the time it takes for the person in front of me to check out flipping through the calendars making sure to get the most attractive of all the $1 cardboard boxes filled with squares of brown wax.

This year was a bit different. This year I went all out. Because LAST year when all the advent calendars were on sale after Christmas I bought two Kinder Egg calendars. Which have sat in my closet for the past 11 months where the chocolates have been gathering a festive coating of white bloom and possibly worms. It took all of the strength I had not to eat those Kinder egg calendars on a variety of occasions in the past year. And one day when it rained. And the day I had a lot of laundry to do. And the day I brought them home from the store. That was a particularly difficult one. I was strong and I left those calendars in tact because I am a good aunt, I have excellent restraint and because I am a grown up who has a cupboard filled with baking supplies including bags of chocolate chips I can rummage through whenever I want to.Oh, but that’s not the good news. The good news is I’ve decided they can have their wormy calendars, because I’m going to make myself a super-cool advent calendar this year.

I just haven’t decided on which one. There are some pretty ugly, homemade advent calendars out there in Pinterest land, but I’ve selected what I think are the best of the bunch. So if you’re thinking of making your own advent calendar this year look no further.I have done the research for you.Just click on the photo to go to the original source and in most cases, instructions. This one isn’t my favourite, but I like the general idea.  If it were me, I’d use a really stained, worn, old muffin pan (it has to be a mini muffin pan to have enough compartments by the way) and I’d use white, gold and black for the covers.  Black or white ribbon and a less cutesy label on the bottom.  Other than that, love it, lol.I’m leaning towards the white bags on the wall because I love how simple and contemporary it is.  My initial reaction is always to go for rustic, but the rustic doesn’t show off as well if it isn’t balanced by some simple white contemporary.  That’s what I think anyway.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2014 December 6 Today’s ship is a Droid Starfighter. It’s slightly different from the vulture droid of 2012.  I want to fleet build At-Ats and snowspeeders, not a droid army. Come on its a snow theme. everyone needs toys, Share this:Like this: December 6, 2014 | Categories: LEGO, Yoda | Tags: christmas advent calendar, LEGO, lego advent calendar, lego star wars | Deceptive Vacation Advertising Here is the classic Spaceman on lunar vacation. I held off on buying a few sets till the first so I could get this set. The set includes a classic spaceman in a white outfit and a black robot. The set was a quick build since it is two figures.

It comes in a nice box with a booklet. The booklet show the box art from the Space theme and some of the space minifigs. If you are interested be quick. I have a feeling these guys won’t last long. What else did I get today? The 2014 Star Wars Advent Calendar, a Spider-man set, and a LEGO Ideas set. The Advent calendar features Santa Darth Vader. I’ve tried not to look at the box or online pictures too much but have glimpsed enough original trilogy stuff to make me happy. I will blog this calendar in December. I also picked up Spider-man verse Electro set and since it was in stock and the movie is in theaters this weekend, I got the Ghost Busters set. Hopefully I can build this later in the week. There is nice torso printing on this one. The Mandalorian looks great in red with a little white collar and some holly. The helmet is still in Jango’s colors not red so you know it’s Jango and not Boba. Why would they make that distinction? Did they just leave a hint as to how Santa travels the world in one night? and why you see Santas in every mall? Is Santa the genetic material for a clone army? Is that how he gets elves? My favorites were the AT-TE, Biker Scout, Santa Jango Fett,  Zam Wesell’s Ship, Slave 1, and the sleigh. Least favorite was the Solar sailor.  A couple of ships were hard to id. Dooku’s ship was even pictured sideways on the box. Plus too much Prequel builds for me. But overall another fun advent calendar. I kind of wish this was out last year. I went to a con that had the actors that played Jango Fett and Young Boba Fett. It would have been cool to have them sign a pic of their mini figs. What Christmas theme minifig would you like to see in 2014? I like to see Queen Amidala from set #9499 Gungan Sub as a Christmas tree.  Or back to the Original Trilogy and an Empire Strikes Back theme with Santa Solo in red Hoth gear. Plus a Miss Santa Leia. Or Maybe a Snow Droid C3-PO or Gift wrapped Han Solo in Carbonite with a bow What was your favorite? Dec 23 2013 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar Today’s advent calendar build is Santa Jango Fett’s Sleigh. This is a really nice mini build. It’s one of my favorites from the calendar. That’s big considering I’m such a Star wars fan. It was easy to build and includes Jango’s Jet pack. Tomorrow Santa Jango Fett Arrives. Dec 22 2013 LEGO Star Wars Advent calendar It’s just days away from Christmas. Today’s  advent calendar mini-fig is  young Boba Fett. Soon his dad will arrive. It is Sunday which means new content for the online game. The advent calendar code for December 22 is  Y12C34 and unlocks a surprise character for the game. Click here for the game. In blog news this December is now my third highest trafficked month ever.  It might become second before Christmas. If it does I’ll post a special holiday image. This ship appeared in the 2011 calendar but with the color scheme that appeared when Boba Fett piloted  it in The Empire Strikes back. Another reuse of a Ship but this time it is a cool ship and I really don’t think you could make a Jango Fett focused calendar without making his ship.
