Your BBB has received many inquiries and complaints from consumers receiving a call from someone pretending to be an employee of GE Capital Retail Bank offering a loan via the use or purchase of prepaid money cards (such as Vanilla Reload Card), placing the funds on it and giving that person the card number in order to receive the loan. The result is that the scammer has the funds on the card and the consumer will not receive the loan. BBB advises that GE Capital Retail Bank and MIO (Vanilla Reload Card) are not offering this type of service, this is a scam. Please be aware that giving out a prepaid card's number gives an unlimited access to the card's funds by the person you gave the number to.
