I took the old one out, 2-3 minutes. I put this one in, in about 5 minutes. It actually has a system that allows you to put this handle in to the door hole a lot faster than most (the long screws stay in place during install). I just took longer since I was making sure this or that was perfect. I think someone could have honestly installed this in 2 minutes tops. In any case, the last step was the re-keying. Using the instruction pamphlet I was able to re-key this knob to our home's keys. I tried the keys that came with the package and those stopped working. I tried 2 different copies of our home keys and both worked fine. This took maybe 2-3 minutes.For us, this knob worked wonderfully. The deadbolt that "lives" above this knob is a zwave deadbolt. For the longest time I always thought, was is that little hole next to the key hole. Well, its for the re-keying key that kwikset provides. I was actually able to use the re-key from this knob to re-key my deadbolt. Love these doorknobs - Easy to Install|
