As a chief of a news agency with high local reputation, my goal is to rise to the next level – to open correspondent offices abroad.

For reference, KUN.UZ (www.kun.uz) news website was established in 2012 in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Today it is widely considered to be one of the leading mass media organizations in Uzbekistan, covering both local and international socio-political events.

The audience of KUN.UZ consists of, but not limited to 400 000 people daily visiting the site. The pages of the site are viewed 40 million times a month (data from Google Analytics).

The site has millions of followers and subscribers in various social media networks. In particular, our official Telegram channel (most popular massanger in Uzbekistan) is followed by more than 1,5 million people. Besides that, 80 000 people are subscribers of the russian version of KUN.UZ in Telegram. Moreover, the number of followers of all 14 regional channels are estimated at nearly 500 000. Thus, in total KUN.UZ has more than 2 million followers in Telegram.

This is not the only numbers making KUN.UZ the leading company in Uzbekistan in terms of the audience. In Instagram, we have 3,1 million followers; in Facebook – 255 000; in Odnoklassniki – 270 000; in Twitter – 32 000, etc.

In recent years, as an acknowledgement of its activity, KUN.UZ is continously winning a number of awards, both from government and nongovernmental organizations.

To this date, KUN.UZ has correspondents in all regions of Uzbekistan. The staff of the head office in Tashkent consists more than 100 journalists, editors and cameramen.

As I said above, we are now thinking of opening correspondent offices abroad. One of the first ones, according to our plans, will be in the US.

In our rough plans, four or five journalists/cameramen are involved in our US branch. At the beginning, the budget of the office will be about $ 25 000 – 30 000, the biggest part of which is accounted for salaries.

This team will cover, first of all, compatriots living in the US. The number of Uzbeks living in the United States exceeds several hundred thousand.

Furthermore, KUN.UZ’s branch in the US will conduct its professional media activity, covering the most important events. We are going to get official accreditation required for journalists in the US.

Accordingly, we need a consultant who support us all those issues related to visa and accreditation.
