Amerisleep Revere BedAmerisleep and Tempurpedic are two companies known for their line of memory foam mattresses. Tempurpedic created the memory foam mattress category back in the day and is the driving force for why memory foam is so popular today. Amerisleep has been in business for a while now too and is really starting to pick up in popularity. Many people are asking how these two companies compare to one another, so I thought I’d lay out some of my thoughts and help you if you are deciding Amerisleep vs Tempurpedic.Key SimilaritiesBoth have memory foam mattresses (although Tempurpedic does also have a line with springs)Both have a range of models for different types of sleepersBoth have been in business for more than just a couple yearsBoth have great company reputationsKey DifferencesTempurpedic has a higher price point for its modelsAmerisleep has a couple unique aspects to the construction of its mattresses, namely bio-based foams and celliant in its coverYou can try out Tempurpedic mattresses in stores, but you have to buy Amerisleep onlineAmerisleep discloses all its specs, while Tempurpedic typically does notSource: Top 5 Mattresses 2017 - TyRankerI”ve been sleeping on memory foam mattresses, both T-Pedic and the less expensive knock offs

, for several years. The main difference between the two is that T-Pedic uses a high density foam. They also claim to use a proprietary method to process their foam, which may account for comparatively low gas off with a T-Pedic as compared to cheaper brands. I’ve heard complaints that the T-Pedic mattress starts to feel too warm during the night because of the transfer of body heat. I’ve never experienced this and find the mattress stays cool, even in heat and humidity. The knock-off can feel saggy and overly pliable when humidity levels are very high. Both models become quite cold, which translates to very firm, when the room temperature falls below approximately 60-65 degrees F which is often the case during winter.  I'm 5’8” and weigh about 135 lbs. I’ve only been using the knock-off for 2 years and so far, for me, both the T-Pedic and the knock-off are nearly identical when it comes to support and comfort, aside from the occasional issues with the temperature changes. By contrast, my teenaged son is 6’4 and 220 lbs.

Within approximately 2 years of him taking over my T-Pedic, the mattress developed a noticeable outline from the impression of his body. I’d been sleeping in that bed for 3 years without that happening. He’s been complaining it’s uncomfortable. He outgrew the twin size, which is the reason we switched, so he now has my queen.A premature sag is also a bigger problem with a knock-off. Although sagging is rare with a T-Pedic, it can happen, Within 2 years of buying our first T-Pedic it developed a sag. The company replaced it, saying it was due to a defect in manufacturing and upgraded it from a double to a queen.Manufacturers measure their mattress using indentation load deflection (ILD) – the higher the number, the denser the foam and the more durable the mattress will be. This is something worth asking about and it’s not listed on the label.A minor detail, but worth mentioning, is the sheets. If you switch from a standard mattress to the same size T-Pedic or one of the higher density knock-offs, your sheets most likely won’t fit.

You’ll either need to buy deep pocket sheets or the next size larger in a standard sheet and tuck the extra in around the mattress. Some information reposted from my answer here: How do generic memory foam mattresses compare to Tempur-Pedic mattresses? There definitely are competitors on par with Tempurpedic mattresses. There are a few ways to tell if the mattress is a high-quality memory foam mattress. You can check the densities of the foams being used as a measure of quality/durability (if the company discloses this information). If you see that the memory foam being used has a 4 or 5 lb. density, then that’s the sign of a high-quality mattress. One of the bigger complaints about memory foam is the propensity for it to “sleep hot.” Because of this, a lot of companies put extra care into addressing this. They might use bio-based foams, have a gel layer, etc. in order to make sure the mattress sleeps cool. If you can see that the mattress directly addresses this issue in its construction, then it is another sign that it’s a good mattress.

You can check out reviews online, or if you want to get aggressive you can directly ask the company what their return rate is. If it’s really low, then that’s a pretty objective measure that people like the mattress.Best Reviewed Memory Foam Mattresses 2016- Who's Best For You?We like Loom & Leaf  as a direct competitor to Tempur-Pedic, as they don't ship compressed in a box like most and use much higher quality materials but with around $1000 pricetag. And they deliver to your house and remove your old mattress. No chemical smells, really plush, gel cooling layer so it doesn't sleep hot, and other nice features.
