Everything you have heard about Maboneng is true - it is the buzzing heart and pulse of Johannesburg, a bit of hipster Brooklyn with an African twist. Loads of cafes, restaurants, galleries, shops and an art museum. You will love the location - my building alone has several restaurants, a small independent artsy movie theater, and even a studio playhouse. And it is just down the street from Johannesburg 's liveliest weekend market. You are spoilt for choice with restaurants, bars, shops, galleries and Museums in the immediate vicinity. Easy access by Uber and the Gautrain subway to other areas of Johannesburg and Pretoria. There are security guards throughout the neighborhood making Maboneng one of the safest parts of Johannesburg. Maboneng is one of the most walkable areas of the entire city.There are Uber taxis literally outside the door in front of the building at all times of day and night. This is because my building is in the very heart of Maboneng and demand is high for Uber, so they make sure to always be there waiting.
From there it is 10 - 15 minutes to most inner city and inner suburb destinations at a very reasonable price. If you want to venture further out to Sandton, Midrand and Pretoria, you can Uber it to Park Street Station in 10 minutes and from there hop onto the Gautrain subway. Gautrain is very fast, cheap, safe, clean and efficient.You will love Maboneng.
